Who has the best third Oscar win?

Katharine Hepburn – The Lion In Winter

Meryl Streep – The Iron Lady

Jack Nicholson – As Good as It Gets

Ingrid Bergman – Murder On The Orient Express

    Daniel Day Lewis – Lincoln

    Frances Mcdormand – Nomadland

    Walter Brenner – The Westerner

    Personal Ranking

    1. Katharine Hepburn
    2. Daniel Day Lewis
    3. Meryl Streep
    4. Frances Mcdormand
    5. Walter Brennan
    6. Ingrid Bergman
    7. Jack Nicholson

I’d put Blanchett in 4th if she wins next month. What about yours?

    Hepburn
    DDL
    Brennan
    Jack
    Streep
    McDormand
    Bergman

I could rank Streep higher since she manages to make racist war mongering Thatcher sympathetic.

Meryl Streep produced an outstanding performance and deserved to win her third Oscar if one were to ignore the script, direction, and content of the film and focus solely on the performance. Lol 😹

Lol! Ignore everything but her. Agreed.

    LEGENDARY
    1. Katharine Hepburn (my vote that year)
if she wins 2. Cate Blanchett (my vote that year)

    AMAZING
    2. Daniel Day Lewis (Jean Louis Trinignant would have been my pick but DDL is totally deserving)
    3. Meryl Streep (my vote that year)

    OKAY
    4. Jack Nicholson (unnecessary win but a weak year so idk who else they’d have awarded)
    5. Ingrid Bergman (wish this was for Autumn Sonata)

    PLS
    6. Frances McDormand (awful win. All others in the category were better but I’d have voted for Vanessa Kirby)

    Haven’t seen The Westerner

Ooof, some choices were made. I’m yet to watch Lincoln and The Westerner but I imagine they’d be up there with Hepburn, by default.

    Hepburn
    (Blanchett)
    Bergman
    Nicholson
    Streep
    McDormand

    1. Frances McDormand, Nomadland
    2. Walter Brenner, The Westerner
    3. (Cate Blanchett, Tár)
    4. Katharine Hepburn, The Lion In Winter
    5. Ingrid Bergman, Murder On The Orient Express
    6. Jack Nicholson, As Good as It Gets
    7. Daniel Day Lewis, Lincoln
    8. Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady

Pretty easy to rank these. One day people will look at what McDormand does in Nomadland differently and realize how incredible the performance is.
