Is it just me or are there more and more cases of celebrities involved in scandals? I get that people have different problems and coping mechanisms and that money usually creates more problems than it solves, especially for folks who are prone to spending it excessively. For example, I used to love watching the X files and I remember feeling shocked to learn that David Duchovny had a sex addiction or something like that. Years after, I see him starring in a new show called Californication which has no shortage of sexually suggestive scenes.
Then there are people like Kevin Spacey (I’m sure you know what he’s suspected of), the late Michael Jackson, and the list goes on. What is it with position and power that allows people to indulge in their worst and most inhumane urges? I just don’t get it. Is a person truly rotten and money just reveals it or do money and fame have the power to corrupt even the most stand up people?
Then I take a step back and look at things through my own situation. My husband and I do well off and sure, we have our quirks, but nothing that’s that intense. It’s a guilty pleasure, sure, but as long as I’m not enjoying it excessively or at the cost of other people’s happiness or wellbeing, what’s the harm? I can’t understand why humanity keeps looking up to famous people who usually get it wrong…
