Because he seems like a really interesting person to have conversations with, based on every interview I’ve seen with the guy.
Do the Grammys deserve to be taken seriously anymore? Is #24kTragic the last of the last straw, too much stupid, too many years in a row? I would argue they have been the worst of all the major “EGOT” industry awards for a really long time, but even then have seemingly gotten far more out-of-touch the past few years. Do they deserve ANY credibility?January 30, 2018 at 4:00 am #1202483258
No big awards show deserves a lot of credibility; Oscars, Grammys, BAFTAs, Globes, Emmys and Tonys are all overrated. This is a structural thing – people choosing the “best of” something is a ridiculous concept in the first place, and it becomes even more silly when you think about the process that is so hugely dependent on aggressive campaigners pulling the right strings instead of voters actually choosing winners based on their taste and professional vision.
Therefore, Grammys, like any big awards institution, have always chosen debatable, often borderline ridiculous winners. Whatever credibility they have will stay intact – they’ve done worse than rewarding 24KMagic.
This is not to say awards shows don’t serve a purpose. Oscars keep people paying attention to movies, Grammys to music, Tonys to theatre. We need them to keep arts alive. And hey, sometimes they even manage to tap into the zeitgeist and lead the way; for instance, I think the movie industry as a whole benefits from the Academy becoming radically more diverse.
Do the Grammys deserve credibility as a prestigious institution that sets the tone for the future of pop music though? No, and they never really have.

Following the Recording Academy president’s remarks about how women need to step up to get Grammys, do you think that the Grammys should return the male/female performances? Why or why not?January 30, 2018 at 8:29 am #1202483418
I think they should not , they have to many categories as it is … i think that unlike acting its completely fair to have general categories and its just unfortunate that women are under represented in these categories

Yes. Separate the genre categories by gender the way it was previously.
