Globes as it’s more diverse categories, though I wish they had acting clips like SAG does, I’m willing to cut the bullshit from the ceremony just to see them.

Globes. I sometimes don’t even watch the SAG Awards. Also, with some races so open the Globes can actually affect the race quite a bit this year. Their best picture-drama winner is going to be very important. Should “Dunkirk” win best picture I think the race may totally change. Both best actress winners could shape the race. If Margot Robbie wins best actress-musical/comedy over Saoirse Ronan it could be huge for her. Ditto if Sally Hawkins beats Frances McDormand in Drama.

Whichever film they suspect Oscar will choose, the momentum of which could shift drastically nearer to the 11th hour.

With all its nominations “The Shape of Water” seems the most likely but it is so strange, though wonderful, that I have some doubts in its winning. “Call Me By Your Name” seems the zeitgeist choice but it is not nominated for best director. Despite big noms “Three Billboards” is very divisive and can be rewarded elsewhere. I am sticking with “Shape of Water” but will not be at all surprised if “Dunkirk” wins.
Will Jordan Peele ever be Oscar nominated again after this Oscar season? If so, in directing or screenplay or both?December 30, 2017 at 10:50 am #1202451940
Yes. “Get Out” has catapulted Peele to a new level now. He’s in the “club” and will be for years to come. I think he could garner both directing and screenplay nods in the future.

I want to be wrong so badly because I think Three Billboards takes that one

I think the first film of 2017 I watched would have been “Hidden Figures”? Last film of 2017 was “Darkest Hour.” Preferred “Hidden Figures” by far between the two.
