I’m a big crybaby so I could fill this with 20 tearjerkers but I’ll emotionally cripple myself all tomorrow

    1) Jørgen breaks down in After the Wedding
    2) Beth’s death in Little Women
    3) Ellen Burstyn’s monologue in Requiem for a Dream
    4) “Mo cuishle. It means my darling. My blood.”
    5) The phone call scene in United 93
BONUS: Arrival’s “I forgot how good it felt to be held by you…”

    3. The scene at the end of Atonement where Briony reveals she made up Cecelia and Robbie’s reunion

    Nothing.

Are there any actors who deliberately or non-deliberately ape another actor’s style of performing? Does that help or hurt them?

Well, there’s a lot of examples one can draw, but here are some main ones I can think of:

Tom Hanks off of Jimmy Stewart (helps him most of the time since Stewart’s peculiar screen presence is very present in Hanks’ best work)

Care Blanchett off of Vivien Leigh (helps in a sense but she could tone down the particular theatricality in most of her work, since Leigh is really the only one who could master that)

Daniel Day-Lewis off Laurence Olivier (now DDL is really transformative, but his acting is very reminiscent to Olivier’s work at times, and that can be a detriment)

Christian Bale off De Niro (his blatant De Niro influence in films like American Hustle, American Psycho and The Machinist isn’t doing himself a strong favor)

Emory Cohen off of Marlon Brando (helps a lot when in subtle shades, particularly in Brooklyn, but too much of one thing can go oh so awry, as seen in The Place Beyond the Pines, as his repetitive “white gangsta rapper Marlon Brando” shit results in a bad performance)

That’s why I admire actors like Joaquin Phoenix and Jack Nicholson, because they just have this identifiable screen presence that is all their own.

Daisy Ridley off Keira Knightley, literally packaged/marketed/sold as the new Keira Knightley except forgot to include the talent portion.

In your opinion, what are the top 5 largest stan groups on GD?

The people who think old actors making desperate comebacks deserve an Oscar this instant even though they’ve done nothing but terribly uninteresting projects for the past literally 30 years.

Those pseudo-highbrows obsessed with foreign actors that aren’t even better than American actors but somehow speaking a different language automatically makes you better.

The weird “I’d Give My Own Life For Timothee Chalamet” stan group of middle aged men and girls which has become so insufferable I turned in my own resignation around the time of the Oscars.

Those who call you racist or fight you if you don’t think Black Panther has the highest worldwide box office gross ever or will win Best Picture. See, those who think 2>60.

The people who too heavily worship Cate Blanchett, think she should have won on every nomination, that Blue Jasmine is the greatest performance ever given as if it’s not a copypasta “Streetcar” in the slightest, rig every elimination game for her to win, that she was better than Cannes Best Actress winner Rooney Mara™ in Carol, replace Jesus’s name in their Bibles with hers. Those people.

Top 5 biggest individual stans on GD?

So liking people who act overseas more than an American actors means you’re highbrow? Fuckin’ cocksucking faggot. Go fuck yourself with an Elle DVD case in the butthole since that’s a foreign language film and you need it to loosen up.

Thoughts on Robert Pattinson in Good Time?

I have no thoughts on him.

Rank your three favorite performances you’ve seen this year so far.
