Hi all –
Somebody posted in one of Grandma Juliette’s threads asking what happened to her as her account is deleted.
First some backstory – “Grandma” Juliette is my mother’s best friend and my childhood neighbor who would often babysit me in my youth. She nurtured my love of film and helped me to discover that I wanted to be an actress and I, in turn, drew her attention to this website when I discovered it. It has been a joy reconnecting with her in this way.
Now for the sad part – after seeing the aforementioned person’s post, I called Juliette and received no response. Later I called my mother and she told me that Juliette suffered a bad heart attack shortly after this year’s Oscars. She has been hospitalized since and underwent a few surgeries after discovering further complications. She asked me, among other things, to deactivate all of her social media accounts (with the intention to re-join once she gets back on her feet).
I can happily say that she is recovering fantastically from her month of trauma and appears to have no further health complications. Since she is clearly a woman of a certain age, the doctors want to keep her in the hospital for another few weeks to ensure that she is stable before releasing her back to her husband and children.
She thanks all of you for your concern and hopes to be back on Goldderby soon.April 5, 2014 at 3:48 pm #453540

I had no idea that you and Juliette had such a special connection, MM. I’m so glad for word of her recovery. Having her around has been delightful for those of us curious about Oscar’s past, and she’s always come across as a wonderfully generous figure to boot.April 5, 2014 at 10:03 pm #453543

Thanks for letting us know. It was always a pleasure to read whatever Grandma Juliette wrote. After many advices to think about Cate Blanchett maybe not winning for “Blue Jasmine” which would be the biggest travesty in Oscar recent history, her posts made me certain that this is a “lock” situation and I finally became calm till the end of the season. Thanks for that and I wish to read your posts here again, GJ!April 6, 2014 at 12:26 pm #453549
I wish her a full and healthy recovery!April 6, 2014 at 12:38 pm #453550

I’ve always loved reading her comments. Here’s to hoping she’ll come back soon!August 3, 2014 at 2:21 pm #453552
Hi everybody. My apologies for my absense – I’ve been on a retreat for a few months with the family.
I visited Juliette at home the other day, she looks to be in great condition and said she will get connected again once she’s done with physical therapy, which is where she’s been spending most of her time recently. She’s planning on attending this year’s New York Film Festival, so all looks like it will be back to normal soon.
I read to her many of the well wishes from this thread and she is deeply touched and thanks you all for your comments. Hopefully she will be back here as soon as possible.
