I’ve been kinda lurking around on the forums now, sometimes I’m active in the music ones because I know a little bit more in terms of Grammy competition, but being on here has really piqued my interest in film. I’m 17 now but I’ve been acting since I was 8 and I find that with every movie I watch, I pick up on new techniques and whatnot.
I want to become more knowledgeable on film and how to gauge whether a film is technically proficient or not, but I’ve seen very few films that are any good just because I never really have much time. I watched all of last year’s major Oscar contenders and I’ve seen a couple classics, but overall I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve seen less than 200 movies in my lifetime.
So I need some advice! I want to be more active in the movie forums, but I know that people get very opinionated and those people typically have a lot more knowledge than I do. Any advice? Movies I should watch? Things I should understand? Stuff to look out for? Where do I start? Film nerds, help!
I mean that’s a loaded question. There are a lot of them that are hugely popular with great Oscar winning performances and stuff and became cultural phenomonons. There are also some that are underrated gems with amazing snubbed performances that are excellent. Really up to you where you want to start lol…you maybe have seen some already.
