This is why he has a shot at a second term. It’s his job to create opportunities for Americans. But i dont like how he’s doing it. Our leaders act like they don’t like him, and yet they can’t WAIT to collude with him to further destroy what’s left of our boreal and rain forests. Who cares if he manages to kill the last ground owl in the world? I hate it when he comes up here. I know he’s after our resources.

More than a shot, Pook.  The Left have made fools of themselves to the nth degree and there’s no coming back.

So have some Republicans. There’s crazies on both sides.

I heard Canadian government is opting for electoral reform / proportional representation. I don’t think that is a good idea. Proportional representation gives small parties too much influence (see: New Zealand’s latest election and the coalition government of Labour, Green and NZ First). What does anyone think?

Re: Sanders. Does anyone think Hillary Clinton will run for 2020? I heard Bernie Sanders was sick. I hope he gets better. I don’t think the Democrats can win next year’s election if Hillary runs at this point in the race.

The Canadian government has been proposing this since confederation. It’s unenforceable and generates no passion from the citizenry. But if this was in place we would now have a Conservative minority government.

As for Hillary, her people have been saying she would run again. There are likely some interesting conversations among democrats debating whether or not she’s their best shot, or whether she’d bring down the Party in record numbers. As her neighbour to the North, this is the last thing i wish to see.

    Speedy recovery to Bernie

And ayanami, thanks for joining the conversation. I highly appreciate it.

And ayanami, thanks for joining the conversation. I highly appreciate it.

Thank you for the warm welcome. It’s sweet. And I’m glad to be here. I want to be more politically literate.

Re: Trump’s impeachment. How will this affect the next election? To my knowledge, no US president has ever underwent impeachment proceedings prior to one. i.e. Bill Clinton was impeached but he couldn’t run for office another time anyway, as it was during his second term as president. So, if Trump is impeached and convicted, could he still theoretically run for president?

They have no legal leg to stand on. He won’t be impeached, nor will he face any legal charges.
But it’s a great way to appease those who despise Trump, and draw attention to themselves.
if somehow the House manages to pass this, and of course they passed the articles for Impeachment enquiries, it’ll be a huge struggle to pass the Senate.
Those following the money regardless of their political affiliation will also be in the mix. And they’re more in Trump’ s camp than they’re pretending.
Of course this is my opinion.

Steve Scalise: Pelosi Using Impeachment Probe to Influence 2020 Presidential Election

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) told reporters Thursday that House Democrat leaders are using the partisan impeachment inquiry to help decide who will be the next president of the United States, suggesting the probe will interfere with the 2020 elections.

He went on to say that Democrats are not interested in getting to the bottom of the allegations that triggered the impeachment effort. Instead, their focus is solely on removing President Donald Trump from office and overturning the results of the 2016 elections, Scalise indicated.

The Dems could gain a lot of ground by working.  The Mexico-USA-Canada trade deal would benefit North America, but the Dems don’t care.  The USA really needs some infrastructure improvements…God, it’s so bad it’s shameful.  Where is the infrastucture funding, Nancy?

I’m sure you will get around to funding the government, though.

Biden: The Economy Isn’t Booming But ‘I Don’t Look at the Numbers’

Trump’s tax cuts have provided relief to the middle class. They’ve put more money back in people’s pockets so they can spend their money how they choose. Some will put it in savings for a rainy day, others will pay off debt and a handful may even buy themselves something they’ve wanted but couldn’t afford.
The president’s tax cuts have enabled small and big businesses to hire more people. Money that would have gone to the government is now going to working people. When more people have jobs, they have more money to spend, which stimulates the economy.
Biden can’t say people are “being left behind” when the unemployment rate is at a record low and the middle class has more money in their pockets. This is just his way of downplaying President Trump’s economic success.   (Beth Baumann)

    Mr. Biden has become cumbersome.

CNN and other establishment media on Sunday refuse to report on the identity of the “whistleblower” who first raised the alarm about the president’s phone call with Ukraine.

Real Clear Investigations identified the “whistleblower” as CIA analyst Eric Ciaramella, a 33-year-old registered Democrat who worked for the White House in former President Barack Obama’s administration with former Vice President Joe Biden and former CIA Director John Brennan.

Lawyers for the “whistleblower” refused to confirm or deny the identity of their client, but warned the media that they would be responsible if he faced any public backlash.

Real Clear Investigations argued that the “whistleblower’s” identity was in the public interest, as he was involved with the effort to remove a sitting president from office.
Trump said that “whistleblower’s” report was inaccurate and suggested that it was politically motivated by his hatred of him.

Bruce! Are you following Wexit? And it isn’t just Alberta.
Even the East coast is rioting! And they’re telling the truth.
I don’t like this at all, but at the same time both of them are making points that are true.

That’s unexpected. If anything, I would have thought it would be Saskatchewan to be the first to pull something like this off!

It was a Canadian riot, Pook.  4 or 5 people raised their voices in a Tim Hortons in Halifax.

Now even our Senate is involved.

Leader of new breakaway Senate group warns of Wexit frustrations

TORONTO – The leader of a new breakaway group of senators claims Wexit is “something we need to be concerned about.”
Sen. Scott Tannas, a former Conservative from Alberta, was announced Monday as the Canadian Senators Group (CSG) interim leader. The CSG is made up of two former Tories and nine former members of the Independent Senators Group (ISG).
“This is not a few broken-down cowboys in a coffee shop,” Tannas told CTV’s Power Play in response to a question about Wexit.

A stated goal of the CSG is to reinforce the principle of the Senate as a haven for regional representation in government. Unlike the House of Commons, where seat counts are based on population, the Senate affords equal representation to Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, plus a handful of seats for Newfoundland and Labrador and the territories.
