Decided to make this a thread bc I’m too lazy to go back and find the BAFTA threads. It is a shock bc he has done so much for the UK film industry, but yikes on bikes this is awful. And it continues a tradition old as time with open secrets. The BAFTAs were so concerned about optics that they still gave this man their highest honor while they knew that this was going to come out and their reasoning is ass. UK peeps, what do y’all think?

Here’s the Guardian article. Salute to the women as always in these horrific situations and shame and dishonor to all that knew and did nothing.

Thoroughly disappointed to hear about this. I had respected what Clarke had done within the industry but this is absolutely disgusting. I stand in solidarity with all the women who suffered due to this man’s despicable behaviour.

As someone who works within the British film industry I have found it quite tiresome seeing those in the hierarchy of institutions sign “pledges” to tackle harassment and inappropriate behaviour within the workplace and cooperate with investigations that end up being mysteriously inconclusive. These heartbreaking stories won’t become a thing of the past without a seismic change in the industry’s workplace culture.

Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

As an American, I haven’t seen any of Noel Clarke’s work, but when I read these allegations, my blood ran cold. He can try denying this as much as he wants to, but when no less than 20 women come forward with accusations, I’m definitely on the side of the women.
