Dear Members of Gold Derby and all Participants in their Forums:
Hey, I know this is practically ancient history, but I was looking up “Adam’s Rib”, and was trying to figure out if it was a 1949 film, or a 1950 film. It’s a little confusing, it was released in ’49, but got an Oscar nomination for the 1950 Oscars. However, I also saw on IMDB that the film got nominations for the WGA Awards in BOTH 1949 and 1950! I’m a little confused about how this happened, and I didn’t find much help on the WGA website, but I saw Ton O’Neal had written an article there regarding the WGA’s history, and that made me think that this might be a good place to ask about it.
Does anybody know about why “Adam’s Rib” got to be nominated at WGA twice? Why it wasn’t nominated for the ’49 Oscars instead of ’59? Or any other oddities regarding these nominations? If somebody does, please let me know. Thank you.
