Kidman will definitely get it. It’s just a matter of when.

Then I’d say Winslet will probably get it because of how hungry she is but she’ll be older and it will be supporting.

Next is Theron as I think she’ll continue doing the right kind of work. People will even considering her for Bombshell at one point this year so the support is there.

After those I’d say we enter the unlikely field. Cotillard can do it with the right project, although probably again when she’s older. Witherspoon might manage it if she switches focus away from TV with her producing work. Roberts can have a Zellweger moment if she keeps turning in performances of the standard of Homecoming and Ben is Back.

Berry, Bullock and Mirren aren’t winning again. The first two were bottled lightning wins of their moment. The latter is too old to build the narrative to re-reward her.

Bullock is definitely angling herself to earn further recognition via nominations. And I do think she wants to win again.

winslet is most likely due to her sheer number of nomimations and eagerness to be back in the race.

I can’t see kidman winning another soon with her choice of roles, same goes with theron, but their time will come

Roberts and Winslet don’t feel like a two time winners…

Seriously? We’re living in a world where Renee Zellweger has two Oscars. Roberts and Winslet can definitely get there. They just need to get back to work. Perhaps steal Kidman’s agent?

The only thing that is absolutely certain in this world is that Close will evidently never win a first.

Bullock needs to be undeniable to win again, and truth be told, she’s not that good. Of course, she might surprise but her best work is average at best, if judged by Streep standards. Bullock’s win was all about this being her sole shot. They can’t use this narrative a second time, can they?

Berry is probably the worst actress in the group. This was a purely political win.

Mirren can win, if given the right supporting part. Of course, she’s cool af and if you ask me, she just wants to enjoy the ride and isn’t hungry for a second win.

Winslet wants it more than anybody on that list but Hollywood has never loved her that much and they would deny her, unless everything lines up. I agree that a second win will be in supporting and when she’s older.

Theron is somebody Hollywood loves denying. She can win again, but something tells me she’s very divisive and most likely won’t. But she better keep up the good work and not care about awards.

Not the right thread for this but it has yet to be said… Renee Zellweger is a two-time Oscar winner because she can do something marvelously: she brings herself to every role and yet she becomes entirely different, reflecting her heart, self-deprecating sense of self, and versatility.

    No Chicago GIFs? Criminal :p

I actually really love Renee, but you have to agree she is a bit of an unlikely two timer, especially considering all the actresses mentioned in this thread even who only have one.

    Let’s see

Julia Roberts : she’s still very much involved with Hollywood and she could totally win a 2nd one. While I was rooting for Lupita in 2014, Julia would have made a worthy winner for AOC.

Halle Berry : give me a break. 2nd worst Best Actress win ever and she’s a bad actress anyway.

Nicole Kidman : she flops a lot (Destroyer not going further than the Globes, Boy Erased being entirely ignored, her being the only Bombshell girl to miss the nom) but she could totally win with the right vehicle. Her Big Little Lies sweep shows Hollywood is here for her.

Charlize Theron : Bombshell was a winning performance but not a winning role. I could see it for her tho.

Reese Witherspoon : No, I don’t think so. She’ll get more noms tho.

Helen Mirren : Likely. She has that prestige factor. That Triple Crown don’t lie.

Marion Cotillard : She has the range and the talent but it’s highly unlikely she wins for another French performance. The fact she even got a sophomore nom in the first place is pretty impressive.

Kate Winslet : She’s so thirsty for it so this has to happen right ? She was a distant runner-up in 2016 (distant because she was never beating Vikander and she won BAFTA and Globe by default lbr) and her high nomination tally could help

Sandra Bullock : Meh. She won based on popularity and likability alone and her only truly acclaimed performance is Gravity. It’s funny how her Best Picture movie (Crash) and Best Actress (Blind Side) both are amongst the worst of their categories. Gravity was an award juggernaut and I don’t see her happening again without that kind of push

Overall I’d bet on Mirren, Kidman and Winslet

    Winslet
    Kidman
    Roberts
    Cotillard

Feel like the strongest possibilities of the bunch.

Berry gets an Oscar-winning role in a Peele or a Jenkins movie. Heads explode.
