“Congratulations to those men.” says it all…

January 13, 2020 at 7:13 am #1203280713Well fuck. No Lupita, no Awkwafina, no Egerton, no Song, no J.Lo?
I appreciate the surprises, since they keep it interesting, but I wish they’d put in my favorites. Just like everybody else, I guess.

Yay for Joker! This one is unfairly touted as a white man movie. Its subject matter is very important today. Using the comic book character is merely a vehicle–a well used one–to get people to see the film. Countless people who feel ostracized by society have contacted Todd, Joaquin, and the team saying this movie has changed their lives for the better. That is huge. That is why the real artists do this.

How is it male centric when there are equal male and female nominees lol

You mean the Disney that owns ABC, which is airing the Oscars and seriously wants a ratings boost after years of underperforming?

Wasn’t there speculation at one point that Joaquin Phoenix was going to be the sole nominee of this movie… like months ago?

At the beginning initially but then it steamrolled into adapted screenplay, and then technical categories, and then Picture, and then Director…and now today. Funny what the right kind of campaign and hype can do for you.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 13, 2020 at 7:23 am #1203280804The BAFTAs really killed it this year with how closely they mirrored the Oscars. The overlap of the voting bodies is getting bigger and bigger every year. The Academy better watch out because once the BAFTAs start having exactly the same nominations, there won’t be any excitement or drama when it comes to the Oscars.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 13, 2020 at 7:23 am #1203280810The Joker is a boring , un memorable film … It was their lame attempt at being mainstream and nominating what they thought was popular . but its not worthy of most of the noms ( Joaquin being the exception , he was amazing )
