I expect Nitram to do quite well here after the success at Cannes. Well known Australian names Judy Davis, Essie Davis and Anthony LaPaglia help as well.

Some other notable/well known names attached to films are:
    – 2067 (Kodi Smit-McPhee and Ryan Kwanten)
    – Buckley’s chance (Bill Nighy)
    – High Ground (Simon Baker)
    – Lone Wolf (Hugo Weaving)
    – Occupation Rainfall (Temeura Morrison, Jason Isaacs and Ken Jeong)
    – Penguin Bloom (Naomi Watts, Jacki Weaver and Andrew Lincoln)
    – Peter Rabbit 2 (Rose Byrne, Domnhall Gleeson and David Oyelowo)
    – Rams (Miranda Richardson)
    – Ruby’s Choice (Jane Seymour)
    – The Dry (Eric Bana)

Yeah. Nitram is also doing really well at LFF. I’ve seen a lot of praise for the movie and Caleb Landry Jones who gives such a deeply layered and powerful performance.

Yes absolutely. I really think this film and the performances are the ones to beat here.

The Dry did really well at the Australian Box Office, Penguin Bloom also did relatively well. High Ground had some positive reviews. These films may be in the competition but I’m betting on Nitram.

WTF? Wasn’t AACTA the most important precursor because they awarded Mulligan and sealed her win? Seriously, where are the American nominees? Do they have even more important International spin-off?

I actually predicted Davis, Hazlehurst, O’Reilly and Watts. I thought the final slot would have been Jane Seymour in Ruby’s Choice.

AACTA has a International Awards section.

This one is exclusive to Australian films or co-productions.
