The only thing that matters

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2022 at 6:48 am #1204750395Nah… They just love Kidman that much. Sorkin won for Chicago 7.
There was no need to reward BTR with a screenplay win just because Kidman was in it. If anything The Power of the Dog would makes more sense given Jane Campion’s connection with Australia and Kodi Smit-McPhee being an Aussie. I think BTR has much more industry support than people realise.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2022 at 7:03 am #1204750426There’s nothing relevant about these winners besides Supporting Actress and Screenplay. No Supporting Actress winner has lost the Oscar nom except for Nicole Kidman in 2018. All AACTA Screenplay winners were nominated.
Guess Sorkin is getting nominated 🤮.

This literally proves there are no patterns in prediction from AACTA and a number of other groups. How can TWO categories only, and as random and unrelated as Supporting Actress and Screenplay, be relevant by design or accident, but none of the others.
What lame, parochial bullshit designed to be patriotic from Australia on our ‘national day’ 26 January, aka Invasion Day. Look who appears on each non-acting tweet: Snook, Kidman Bartlett. We let a couple of Brits win, sucking on the Empire’s tit. So sick of Australia’s bullshit right now.

The Great - Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and comedy writing and directingSeverance in drama series, writing, Adam Scott for best actor, Ben Stiller for drama directing, and the whole cast in supporting.
January 26, 2022 at 7:46 am #1204750558I’m happy my two favorite films of the year have been awarded (TPOTD and “Dune”), but the bad taste in that Sorkin win, come on! I think he’s definitely getting an Oscar nomination. We cannot do anything to stop him!
That Dench can win over Balfe with a nothing role proves that it’s kind of a name check for them and maybe none of the other contenders really blew them away.

Same with Aussies Snook and Blanchett who lost to Brit legends Dench and Winslet.ReplyCopy URLFor Your Consideration

I guess the voters really wanted to award Dune somehow.

I want to hear Kodi’s speech!

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 26, 2022 at 2:50 pm #1204751776She’s the strong favourite, still. This is a weird miss given her film win 3
