We have a tie for dishonorable title of Worst Film of 2011.

One of your choices is a comedy in name only starring an actor known for his gift with improv but in this case he came up short. Way short!

The other is a sequel to a series very much so hated around these parts. This only got five votes but those who saw it may have found it the worst of a weak series.

The Goldderby members choices as the Worst Film of 2011 with an F average at 1.25 are…

The film in 15th place on the Goldderby Rankings is a best picture and directing nominee and a film that won both those categories with the National Board of Review. The film is a love letter to early cinema by one of cinema’s great directors and film fanatics.

Your choice as the 15th best film of the year with a grade of 3.819 is Martin Scorsese’s…

You Goldderby member’s choice as the 14th best film of the year was an Oscar nominee as best foreign language film at the 2010 Academy Awards but not released in the U.S. until 2011.

The 14th best film of 2011 with a grade of 3.861 is the Canadian (though set in the Middle East) drama…

Your choice as the 13th best film of the year is a very dark drama, maybe even a horror film, that won its star best actress from the National Board of Review and the European Film Awards. Sadly she missed out on the Oscar nomination though she was a nominee in the Goldderby Awards (and hey I voted for her).

The 13th best film of 2011 with a score of 3.865 is the Tilda Swinton drama…

The 12th best film of 2011 according to Goldderby members is a dark thriller by an Academy Award nominated director. Last year his directorial effort topped these Rankings, won the Goldderby Best Picture as well as the less important prizes from the NY Critics, LA Critics, National Board of Review, National Society of Film Critics and Golden Globes. His 2011 film got one of it stars a best actress nomination from the Oscars… and in the more prestigious Goldderby Awards.

Your choice as the 12th best film of 2011 with a grade of 3.891 is David Fincher’s…

Just missing the final Top Ten of 2011, though it spent several weeks in the Top Ten, is a best picture, directing and lead actor Oscar nominee that also won best picture from the Los Angeles Film Criticscs and Golden Globes. Its star may very well win best actor at the Oscars tonight and it is likely to win for its adapted screenplay.

The 11th best film of 2011 according to Goldderby members with a grade of 3.932 is the Alexander Payne tragic-comedy…

Hugo, the best film of the year, is #15 on whatever this thing is? Sorry to say, but that puts shame on your entire system.

Goldderby members send me their grades and I just average them. If you would have voted and given the film an A or A+ its grade would be higher. Eighteen Goldderby members sent me a grade for “Hugo” and the grades averages a 3.815 or basically a high B+. These are not just my choices, though I did give “Hugo” an A, but the collective choices of Goldderby members who took part.
