    Interesting.

That grade kills me on the inside. What did you vemehently dislike about the third? The bickering and pessimism? It’s my #1 movie of the year, and frontrunner for movie of the decade for me, so I am intrigued by other opinions about the film.

The way I see it, this trilogy is designed to age with the viewer, making it relatable if you watch them every nine years. Unfortunately for me, the first one came out when I was 2, and while I love the whole trilogy, Sunrise is my current favourite, because It depicts characters at a time in their life similar to my current situation. As you can see above, I agree with you that Midnight is one of the best films of the year. It’s possible that MysteriousRent doesn’t find it relatable, while the other two were. I am still curious as to what could have merited a D though…

I loathed the movie, probably moreso because of the love I have for the other two. I can’t remember ever being so disappointed in a film. The movie puts its screenplay front and center and I found that screenplay to be nothing but a series of cliches. Neither character seemed like a real person. and the two set piece scenes (the dinner and the fight) were difficult to even sit through. The dinner made points that I have seen over and over and over, and its approach to technology was a decade old. The argument never felt like anything more than false note after false note – I didn’t believe a bit of it. And then the ending undermined even the false stakes that they had spend the last 30 minutes of the fight trying to build up. I really, really hated the movie.

I know many (all?) will disagree with me, but I am OK with that.  I also hated Wall-E, so I am used to it …

There is no reason to drag WALL-E into this. Leave that adorable, love-filled robot alone.

The Goldderby Rankings are done on the honor system and for the most part that has been just fine but a few rotten apples lead me to ask that you stick to the following…

    1) Do not give a grade to a movie you have not seen. This may seem obvious but there was a case of a member who gave me a long list based on what he assumed his grades would be if he bothered to see movies. He bragged about it to other members and his rankings were trashed.

    2) Give honest grades. Do not give grades to artificially inflate or downgrade movies. If you love “American Hustle” but want “12 Years a Slave” to be higher in the rankings do not give “Hustle” a B to help make it happen. Give the grade you really think a movie deserves. Even though I ask this I do not really remember this being an issue in the past. People on the site seem fond of this event and want the results to be accurate.
