Please give it to Mad Max. The Revenant’s cinematography was pretty but many movies can shoot pretty landscapes with natural lighting. Macbeth was robbed though

I would laugh so much and squeal if the winner was Carol – which I find the most deserving here actually.
This is obviosuly between Seale and Lubezki (with Hateful Eight as a spoiler). I’m not enamoured with Lubezki’s work here, so I’m not rooting for him. I think Mad Max is deserving, but I really don’t mind any of the nominees winning (i’d rank Sicario 5th).

There should be 10 nominees in this category!! Like I said before, cinematography this year was on fire.

Cinematography is personal for me because I myself am a cinematorapher and I LOVE the craft.

The Revenant had beautiful cinematography and the work with natural light is impressive. Once again Lubezki proves he is the best DP of this generation.

But I personally hope John Seale wins for Mad Max. His work in constand moving and amazing use of alternate color palettes is just a highlight for me.
