Ceremony takes place in late January, but please start sharing your final predictions and use the thread to tell everyone when you decide to change your mind.
Best Ensemble – Moonlight
Reply
Best Lead Actor – Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea
Best Lead Actress – Natalie Portman, Jackie
Best Supporting Actor – Mahershala Ali, Moonlight
Best Supporting Actress – Viola Davis, Fences
Best Stunt Ensemble – Hacksaw RidgeDecember 20, 2016 at 7:44 pm #1201972976SAG announced today what screeners they are sending to members. It is pretty much all the acting nominees except The Girl on the Train, Hacksaw Ridge and Hell or High Water. I guess producers of those don’t think they stand a chance.

So all the stunt ensemble nominees had the screeners sent but Hacksaw?

Oh I forgot about stunts. None of the stunt film’s sent screeners so I guess it is an even playing field.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 20, 2016 at 8:59 pm #1201973011I want to get people’s opinion. Does Emma stone have a chance to beat Portman by getting a lot of people to vote for her to make up for the La La Land snub in Ensemble and the fact that some people will want La La Land to win something at SAG? If La La Land does win Best Picture, SAG voters won’t want to look stupid for not awarding it.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 20, 2016 at 9:11 pm #1201973013I don’t think they’re thinking that way necessarily and there are way too many voters in the guild for anyone to to feel responsible about the eventual outcome.
But I think you can make the argument that if they like the movie, that will be the place they will put their support behind, while that might not be the case with the Academy. The Hurt Locker was the last BP winner that got nothing from SAG.

It’s perfectly possible to win BP and not win an individual acting award(Argo, Birdman, Spotlight). Don’t get this obsession…

Stone does have a shot, but it’s not linked to “making up for a snub”.
The Hurt Locker was the last BP winner that got nothing from SAG.
Let’s stop treating LLL like it’s already won the Oscar. We’re not unpaid publicists for the film.

Best Stunt Ensemble – Hacksaw RidgeI think the closest race is not between Stone and Portman. It is between Affleck and Washington.

Well, how do you know?;)
I was merely following the hypothesis that ”If La La Land does win Best Picture, SAG voters won’t want to look stupid for not awarding it.” btw. You’re barking up the wrong tree.
