I couldn’t find a thread for this; if it already exists and someone is able to add this to that one it would be fine. The in-competition films have some I really look forward to seeing, esp. the French films and a particular French actress!

    Atlantique (Mati Diop, France/Senegal)

    Bacurau (Brazil)

The Dead Don’t Die (Jim Jarmusch, U.S.)

Frankie (Ira Sachs, U.S.) Starring ISABELLE HUPPERT!!!!

A Hidden Life (Terence Malick, U.S.)

It Must Be Heaven (Elia Suleiman, France/Canada)

    Little Joe (Jessica Hausner, Austria/Germany)

Matthias & Maxime (Xavier Dolan, Canada) (starring Xavier Dolan)

    Les Miserables (Ladj Ly, France)

Mektoub, My Love: Intermezzo (Abdelatif Kechiche, France) (sequel to earlier film)

Oh Mercy! (Arnaud Desplechin, France) (Roschdy Zem, Lea Seydoux and Sara Forestier)

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (Quentin Tarantino, U.S.)

Pain and Glory (Pedro Almodovar, Spain) (Antonio Banderas)

    Parasite (Boong Joon-ho, South Korea)

Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Celine Sciamma, France) (Adele Haenel)

Sibyl (Justine Triet, France) (Virginie Efira and Adele Exarchopoulis)

Sorry We Missed You (Ken Loach, U.K.)

    The Traitor (Marco Bellochio, Italy)

    The Whistlers (Coneliu Porumbouin, Romania)

The Wild Goose Lake (Diao Yinan, China)

The Young Ahmed (the Dardenne brothers, Belgium)

…interesting lineup with lots of French language films! (:

Why do I have the feeling that obscure actors will win this year? I am hoping that Queen Isabelle gives a great Oscar-worthy performance in Frankie and that it’s an awards season favorite, but time will tell, of course! Super excited by so many French language films in the competition!
