Lupita is doing the damn thing hitting these regionals and winning NYFCC. The hardest thing for her with the industry is the Globe nomination.

Joker, Christian Bale, and Adam Sandler continue to slay! Love to see it! JLo looks more and more in danger with each passing critic award, and surprisingly Pacino may be in danger too, with this being his first critic nomination in a while. They both desperately need the Globes to rescue their Oscar chances.

Also I’m convinced that one of DiCaprio and De Niro will be snubbed now. Bale looks more and more like a lock each day, and the 5th nominee will be from a non-picture nominee (Murphy, Sandler, or Pryce). With the Irishman looking like more of a frontrunner than OUATIH, my odds are on De Niro.

Yay for Lupita Nyong’o getting buzz for Us, but I am kinda disappointed these critics awards have shown 0 support for Midsommar and Ad Astra, particularly the performances of Florence Pugh and Brad Pitt. I know they’re making it in for supporting roles in other movies, but they were fantastic leads this year in great movies.

What makes you so sure Uncut Gems is not getting into Picture?

First of all, A24’s main focus this season seems to be The Farewell, which I still think is on the outside looking in (though it has much more of a shot now than it did before the critics awards) which means Uncut Gems will get mostly a Sandler centric campaign with very little focus on anything else.

Second of all, Uncut Gems seems like another one of those strange, off-kelter movies that A24 is known for, kind of like The Lighthouse also, but it doesn’t seem very baity or crowdpleasing, which makes me think the academy won’t like it as much as critics do.

Third of all, there’s just so many strong contenders (especially in the drama Globe category, which Uncut Gems will desperately need to get into Picture) in the season and I think this film is hitting it’s stride too late.

Sorry Dude, one thing I’m sure about is that all 3 of De Niro,Joaquin and Driver are locks for noms.

Bale isn’t making it in Top5,he’s good but far from his top work and the category is stacked. He will also split votes with Damon.Ford vs Ferrari also isn’t doing massive business,it’s looking like a average grosser sadly unless something happens in China.

    Antonio Banderas
    Adam Sandler
    Eddie Murphy
    Taron Egerton
    Leonardo DiCaprio
    Jonathan Pryce

All these people are likely to make it to #4 and #5 than Bale.

Anyone kind enough to tell or guess how many critics awards are there in US to be exact?

    Too many.

Except he isn’t splitting votes at all, Bale’s been nominated 4-5 times at the critic awards and Damon’s been nominated exactly zero. Plus Bale always gets a nomination when he’s in a Picture nominee, just look at The Fighter, American Hustle, The Big Short, and Vice. Meanwhile De Niro and DiCaprio have both been snubbed multiple times at various critic awards (though DiCaprio’s been snubbed more) and neither get nominated as consistently as Bale does. That being said, I agree with your opinion that De Niro is the more likely nominee, even though he’s in no way a lock. Also Egerton and Banderas are just wishful thinking at this point. Neither are making it in.

I actually didn’t know that. Interesting. Don’t think it will really swing the film’s chances either way though.

Bale always makes in when he’s in BP nominee is not a definitive term.

De Niro is lock, this is De Niro being Best he is in decades in a BP frontrunner. He kills in this movie especially last hour.He will be 3rd for sure.

Antonio Banderas won Cannes for Best Actor and also is getting words from critics. He has respect from industry and he can get benefit from diversity check.

Eddie Murphy was stunning in “DIMN” and he’ll be Comedy Globe winner for sure which all the more gives the proof of his nomination. He is a legend and this is his comeback.

Adam Sandler as we know what he’s doing with critics recently and he’s also coming off a brilliant performance recently.I would reckon he would won Comedy Globe if he didn’t go Drama.

Leonardo DiCaprio comes back after 4yrs,gives a solid mature comedic performance in a successful Tarantino film which is one of major contender, which also made $373 millions at Box Office. He could also win Comedy Globe maybe.

Taron Egerton played a real life legend and was excellent in it,no doubt. He is also campaigning as crazy and he just might be a suprise nominee. He too can win Comedy/Musical Globe

Jonathan Pryce is a stage and television legend and I am sure once The Two Popes comes wide,he’ll get so much notice.

Now Bale is good in FvF as I said before saying this is like saying water is wet.Bale is always good but far from his Best as an actor.Maybe critics aren’t noticing Damon but I think Award Bodies will.He too was good in his subtle role.FvF isn’t really doing any Giant BO numbers like OUATIH or Joker so there’s that.

To add it further both Bale and Damon have fell down from major prediction websites post FvF including Goldderby.

If Bale was in Comedy or this was a weaker year things would have been different.I just don’t see Bale making it in even to Top 5.

Bale always makes in when he’s in BP nominee is not a definitive term.

I’m not sure what that means. It’s a fact that every time Bale is in a Picture nominee, he’s nominated as well. The 4 films I mentioned are the only 4 Picture nominees he’s been in.

The thing is that Bale isn’t competing against Banderas, Egerton, Murphy, Pryce, or Sandler. He’s competing against De Niro and DiCaprio. Every year since 2014 (except for 2015) there’s been exactly 4 Picture nominees in Actor. It’s a pretty well established pattern now. With both of those two looking vulnerable after several critic snubs, and his perfect record still standing, I think Bale’s likely to upset one of them. But the Globes will tell us for sure.

Yeah,Globes will tell us the more.

Critics awards aren’t always most reliable thing to pick who’s gonna get what.

Imo Driver,Phoenix,De Niro are locks.Banderas will be 4th.

It’s #5 spot that’s left but that’s my opinion so far.

Also Bale has 2 acting noms so far and so does DiCaprio whereas De Niro has 3.

Wait a second. I didn’t know who she was before just googling her but Anna Paquin is THAT daughter? Not even the one with effing lines and tears but the one who sulks the whole time? (Serious) Did she actually even say more than 10 words?

    I don’t think she did.
