You have a point, though then the category would be pretty barren. I guess we could look forward to Saoirse or Lupita winning in that case. Unless they decide Little Women and Us are comedies too, in which case maybe Cynthia Erivo will actually win something this season.

the Cynthia Erivo part got me ROTFL

I so want Lupita to be nominated, more than Charlize, Renee and Saoirse combined. Her inclusion would elevate that line up.

Someone posted this gif in a previous thread but I want to share it again because it showcases Nyong’o’s acting so well…

    At this point, I’m expecting:
    Theron
    Zellweger
    Johansson
    Nyong’o
    Awkwafina/Ronan

She has a big disadvantage in being in a horror film. Let’s see if she can overcome that.

Lupita Nyong’o getting nominated is wishful thinking!

First, I don’t think she was Oscar worthy, but also those so called reviews singling out her performance never mentioned a possible Oscar nomination. It’s just a fan thing that will die as soon as she gets snubbed at the GG.

GG hated Get Out too. Didnt work out too well for them.

It just occurred to me that only 2 Actress winners this decade played real life people (Colman, Streep) and neither of them won SAG. That means that no actress has won SAG so far this decade for playing a real life person.

    That’s compared to:

-4 Supporting Actresses winning Oscars for playing real life people (Leo, Nyong’o, Vikander, Janney, all of whom won SAG)

-3 Supporting Actors winning Oscars for playing real life people (Bale, Rylance, Ali, Bale and Ali won SAG while Tommy Lee Jones won SAG but not the Oscar)

-7 Lead Actors winning Oscars for playing real life people (Firth, DDL, McConaughey, Redmayne, DiCaprio, Oldman, Malek, all of whom won SAG)

Y’all can say that Theron/Zellweger are winning SAG until you’re blue in the face and they very well could, but Johansson is a lot closer to fitting the mold of what SAG goes for in this decade. I’m tired of people making claims about this race based on generalizations and baseless claims, if you have compelling evidence as to why Theron is winning besides how well her performance has been received at one screening I’m all ears.

I am now convinced that everybody saying ScarJo doesn’t have material simply didn’t watch the movie. I mean she is Oscar Worthy from the trailer alone.

To be fair, these are literally the only two scenes she really ACTS in: her first meeting with her lawyer Nora and the explosive fight scene with Driver near the end. The rest of the film is from Driver’s perspective, with Dean and Liotta chewing the scenery in the courtroom scene and Alda telling a bunch of old man jokes the rest of the time.

Darlings, Thatcher was heartbroken because of that f*cking trailer. I’m sending troops to Baumbach’s house. I won’t allow anyone to break Thatcher’s heart like that.

Oops, and Johansson is the clear frontrunner. You better accept it, dear citizens.

Pretty sure Thatcher was crying tears of laughter on the bombshell trailer when Bad Guy was playing, Duh.

I don’t like their choice of song. It made it look like a child’s play

I need Jodie and Universal to come through and give the Oscar to a black woman. The Bombshell poster is exactly what’s wrong with Hollywood and Judy is exactly what’s wrong with the Oscars: white and baity. I’d take Awkwafina, Woodard or Nyong’o too even though Us was not good in my eyes
