Local stan here to tell you that as far as female horror performances go, Marianne Jean-Baptiste deserves attention for her performance in In Fabric. Fuckin rollercoaster of a movie, all of you should go see it.

It’s a seriously wacky movie, great throwback to the great Italian giallos of the 60s/70s. A24 botched the fuck out of its release though, I don’t think she’ll get any attention at all this season which is a shame.

I don’t think an Oscar nomination is possible but I so hope she gets Globe and BAFTA nominations.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, given I did not like many of her previous performances, but holy fuck Scarlett Johannson blew me away in Marriage Story. She really captured how people have different “masks” around others in times of personal pain.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Parasite
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
    Best International Film: Parasite

    BAFTA nominations.

Fully expecting / hoping for “Wild Rose” to be this year’s “I, Daniel Blake” at the BAFTAs.
