Dafoe is taking this one! I’ll believe it until the night Regina King opens the envelope and proves me wrong

King stole Weisz’s second Oscar but I might forgive her if she would read Pacino’s name this February. As of now, Pacino is nearer to a win than Dafoe.

Weisz was better than King, but she wasn’t supporting. King deserved her win.

This is another case where my head is with Dafoe, but my heart remains with Brad.
Not having seen The Irishman the talk is that each of the 3 principals offers something different from their past personas. If this is true a nomination for Pacino or Pesci seems warranted.

Not that he should need to of course, but beginning the prayer circle today that Asier Etxeandia will coattail Banderas

    FYC:

Antonio Banderas and Asier Etxeandia, Dolor y Gloria (Best Actor/Supporting Actor)
Emily Beecham, Little Joe (Best Actress)

If anyone sweeps this category it’ll be Pitt. Dafoe’s performance and movie will turn a sizable portion of voters off.

urghhhh, I’ll just throw up if Pitt sweeps. And I think he did it well in Once…

The media would just be so annoying.
Also, is he really so far ahead from the rest?

    He’s where they’d award Once…

A big part of me hopes you’re right. Brad’s perf still makes me smile. I rewatched for those extra scenes and I liked him even more.

Not sure how voters will embrace LH. They may not appreciate the film but it’d be pretty difficult not being focused on Dafoe.

Pattinson is the MVP of Lighthouse for me.

I wouldn’t be furious if Pitt swept, as there would be (and have been) worse choices, but I don’t think he really deserves it. It was a good performance, just not great.

Can’t quite understand why Pattinson isn’t in the conversation.

Slap the stud theory and a crowded field in best actor.
