Lucifer is real, and he is a SAG voter.

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Parasite
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
    Best International Film: Parasite

I have a feeling Alan Alda is going to coattail his way into the fifth spot, just like Jacki Weaver in 2013.

Alan Alda’s performance was good, but not Oscar worthy.

Willem Dafoe atleast deserve a nomination for The Lighthouse to build overdue narrative for his eventual deserving win.

If it were up to me I would have given him Oscar this year and I have seen all the contenders.

Would have been better if he and Close won last year.

Kathy Bates for Best Supporting Actress (Richard Jewell)

He probably possessed all the other SAG voters.

I agree Alda was good, but Ray Liotta in “Marriage Story” would be my pick for supporting actor from the movie. He was equally as good as Laura Dern.

Yeah, I agree with you. I actually liked Liotta’s performance better than Dern’s.

Sam Rockwell is absolutely superb as lawyer Watson Bryant in Richard Jewell. All of his scenes are gems but the confrontation scene where he asks Richard if he is angry was my favorite. 3 superb performances in the movie!

Has anyone seen Just Mercy and if so, how is Jamie Foxx?

He’s good. I immediately predicted him at SAG after seeing him. I enjoyed the film too. I don’t think it’s going to translate to Oscar though but it would be deserving.

I don’t think Tom Hanks will get the Oscar nom. It’ll be Pesci, Pacino, Pitt, and two of the following: Dafoe, Hopkins, Kang-Ho.

I think Hanks will get in as a name check. I think the list will be:

    1. Brad Pitt
    2. Joe Pesci
    3. Al Pacino
    4. Tom Hanks
    5. Song Kang Ho

They usually like to add in a foreign actor like last year with the actress from Roma in Supp Actress. Parasite has love amongst the actors branch, just look at the SAG ensemble nom it got.

Song getting a nomination over Dafoe (which might not be impossible) would be bittersweet. On one hand, I did want Parasite to get some performance awards recognition… but at the expense of Dafoe, it stings.

I would still be extremely surprised if they find room for a Parasite cast member for BSA or BA.

If Song gets nominated, it will be at the expense of Hanks, Hopkins, or Foxx, not Dafoe.

I think Hanks will get in as a name check.

For “Captain Philips” he was nominated for GG, SAG, BAFTA, and CC – missed Oscar nomination. He wasn’t considered for awards for “Saving Mr. Banks”, “Bridge of Spies”,  “Sully” (CC) or “The Post”. Hanks I think comes across too much like Tom Hanks playing a character because he as a person has become such a cultural icon. For the record, I think Meryl Streep has the same issue, but award nominations seem to still pour her way. All of that to say, I fully expect Hanks to get a BAFTA nomination and miss the Oscars. He hasn’t been nominated since “Cast Away”. Hopkins hasn’t been nominated since “Amistad”. Neither of them are in the zeitgeist and thus I’d be more inclined to think Kang-Ho and Dafoe will make it in.

    Dafoe isn’t happening.
