Let’s be real. I didn’t even know she appeared on the movie.
She’s fine, but doesn’t really get anything to do (no one really does except for Renee). It’s the type of sympathetic role that if it were a bigger name I could see just getting name check (*cough* amy adams in vice *cough*) but for a new face like Buckley she won’t be getting anywhere. Just another good credit for her resume more than anything.October 8, 2019 at 12:48 pm #1203128007
Hagerty was damn annoying in her role while Wever is literally in one and a half scenes.
Hagerty is a riot and went down a storm at the screening I was at.
And yes, Wever isn’t in it much but my God does she grab what time she does have by the balls! Could easily have had a film just on her.

This thread needs to be put on pause until somebody other than Dern and Lopez does something. I guess we’re just waiting for Robbie or for groups to start nominating people.
There’s still really nothing else to discuss here. People can’t even find a way to confidently write about 3 other contenders. Can’t believe it’s been a month and JLo is still #2 (#1 to some, because even Dern isn’t completely out there yet).October 8, 2019 at 3:13 pm #1203128242
I never thought I’d say this but I wouldn’t mind Jennifer Lopez winning for Hustlers. It’s a very fine performance. Surely the most charming one I’ve seen in this category so far.

I don’t think Maggie Smith has any shot at getting nominated. Maybe at the BAFTAs. The film was also released too early and it was a thing just in UK. Definitely not an Oscar player.
mmmm – Where do you live?
Downton Abbey was #1 at the Box Office in the United States and is still doing well.
Also, Maggie will get nominated at the Golden Globes, SAG, BAFTA and Oscars.October 8, 2019 at 6:20 pm #1203128525This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.October 8, 2019 at 6:28 pm #1203128546
I just came back from the future. NBR gave the win to Octavia Spencer for Luce which brought her back into the race. Neon decided to campaign her which ultimately lead to her sweeping all the critics awards, televised precursors and of course the Oscar, making her the first African American actress to win 2 Academy Awards. Luce also won actor, adapted screenplay and, in a surprising upset, best picture. Wow what a turn of event.

I think it’s been a long time coming and I just hope JLo gets her nomination.
It must be very nerve-wrecking to sustain the momentum she’s getting from such an early release. I just hope she plays it cool and gets nominated. I’m very excited for her.October 9, 2019 at 4:59 am #1203129001
Thanks for those who commented back about Jessie Buckley. I’ve heard it’s a small role. Just desperately want her to be attached to a worthy project and see if she can do something with it!October 9, 2019 at 6:30 am #1203129095
Weren’t there talks in here a while back for Kathy Bates in Richard Jewell?
I approve. Based on trailer.

Am I the only one who thinks Jennifer Lopez is the actual frontrunner as of right now?

Kathy Bates isn’t getting near the Oscars. That movie isn’t going to be near the Oscars. Forget about it.
