I’m doing it, babe. I’m going to drag that performance. In that scene, she is very conscious of the camera. She’s making it quite obvious that she is acting. It doesn’t feel like a natural performance at all. I just think her performance in I, Tonya is not that good and overrated. It’s only my opinion..

America. They want someone to love. They want someone to hate.

Robbie was amazing in that role

    Gaga should have won.

Olivia > Melissa > Gaga > Glenn > Yalitza imo.

Just saw Marriage Story. Scarlett should be safe for a nomination. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised or disappointed if she doesn’t win.

I agree with this ranking! Melissa’s performance in CYEFM is so underrated.

I’m not sold on her 100% winning tbh. Not only because of the film only strongly following Nicole’s journey in the first act but people are starting to catch on believing Charlie’s the more sympathetic one and got more emotional scenes, so some people can interpret that as her being unlikable, which I feel like some voters especially males will agree with.

    Like this review:

“Even though ‘Marriage Story’ is ostensibly on Nicole’s side, she isn’t given the same sympathy-churning emotional beats afforded to her ex-husband,”

What are your thoughts on Adam and Laura though?

I don’t like Kristen Stewart’s acting. All the sighs and everything.
But I think she might enter the race with Seberg, I was mesmerized by the trailer.

Okay, what we not gonna do is drag Margot’s marvellous performance in I, Tonya. This scene alone >>> the other contenders that year.

It never felt like watching Tonya Harding though. Lol.

Scarlett is definitely safe for a nomination but this movie belongs to Adam Driver. She was good but definitely not a performance that would secure a win. I’m going with Zellweger as of now until I see Bombshell.

She was the worst nominee, imo.

Zellweger is sweeping. There’s always an acting race that’s done and done before the season even really starts and this is the one.

My personal Top 5 of 2019 so far:
    1) Parasite 2) The Farewell 3) Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 4) The Irishman 5) Knives Out

don’t remind me the painful Gaga snub. Both Gaga and Robbie gave Oscar worthy performances and should have won. As for supporting Colman (Thatcher inspired), she’s really overrated and everyone agrees with me

First of all, Colman’s not overrated. Second of all, if everyone agreed with you that she’s overrated (which they don’t), then that means she’s not overrated.

    Also she was a lead.

No, that’s Best Supporting Actress – Dern. Theron is Bombshell-ing Renée and winning her 2nd Oscar.

It never felt like watching Tonya Harding though. Lol.

Margot was Great, although she didn’t fully capture Harding’s nature. Janney overpowered her in scenes with and without her. And that was the charming nature of mother of the year Mrs Harding.
