Let’s keep the conversation going from Part 11.February 9, 2020 at 5:30 am #1203336111
Wouldn’t it be crazy if we are all wrong and they go mad for Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood and give it Picture, Director and Original Screenplay?February 9, 2020 at 5:33 am #1203336114
Just changed best picture from 1917 to parasite. Still can’t imagine the same picture winning best picture and foreign picture, but I also can’t imagine parasite winning editing and screenplay but losing best picture.
Maybe “Honeyland” gets both documentary and foreign picture. Would love to see some jawdroppers.February 9, 2020 at 5:33 am #1203336116
Additionally… it seems like everyone has jumped off the Once bandwagon and onto the Parasite one. Are we setting ourselves up for disappointment. Once was loved in Hollywood and I don’t see it walking away with only one Oscar.
OUATIH had a good shot at PGA and/or SAG yet lost both. There’s a reason why people assume that Parasite has more chances.
Also, while Tarantino is way overdue of a Best Picture, everything he does is divisive and he seems to piss off so many people for whatever reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fake ass controversies around OUATIH (two male leads that some desperately want to be problematic, all-white, made fun of the only POC and angered his family, too many feet, glamorized violence against women, Margot doesn’t speak enough which automatically makes Tarantino a dangerous sexist etc) already cancelled its BP chances.
People just like to get offended by everything he does. The fact that his portrayal of Sharon is by far the most innocent and respectful thing he has ever done (and approved by her family) yet twitter activists still found a way to be mad about it.. Lol
This said, Screenplay remains a strong possibility

I have a feeling American Factory might lose Best Documentary Feature and something else might win like For Sama. Hmm…….February 9, 2020 at 5:53 am #1203336134

I went with Honeyland. There’s clearly some support for it.

I changed mines to For SamaFebruary 9, 2020 at 6:03 am #1203336139
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Earlier this morning I was wondering if I should pick Parasite to win Best Picture instead of 1917 because there is no denying that there is an overwhelming support for this movie. However, I still sticking with 1917 just based off my instinct but it could very well go to Parasite.</p>February 9, 2020 at 6:05 am #1203336142
Chickening out at the last minute and changing Makeup/Hair back to Bombshell. If Joker does pull off the upset, someone please publicly shame me for this as I’ll deserve it.February 9, 2020 at 6:10 am #1203336146

I don’t think you should worry because Bombshell seems like it has good chance to win. I’m also predicting it to win.February 9, 2020 at 6:18 am #1203336150
What I am torn about is Costum Design. Little Women ? OUATIH? Jojo Rabbit?. What y’all have??February 9, 2020 at 6:36 am #1203336156
Last year I got 20 out of 24 correct (25th place overall on Gold Derby) because for the first time I decided to predict with my head instead of my heart. And it paid off big time. Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody and Black Panther all the way.
This year, I’m trying my utmost best to do the same.
My heart says follow the pack and go with Parasite. But my rational head is screaming: Follow the stats! PGA, DGA, Golden Globes!
I have a gnawing feeling about JoJo Rabbit over-performing tonight. A Costume Design upset especially, because the stats support it. My heart says don’t do it, even though I know it is probably coming for that win.
Or even a huge shocker like Scarlett Johansson in Supporting Actress.
The same with Joker. Something in me is telling me to go with your gut on Joker. Lead Actor, Original Score and Makeup & Hairstyling.
