I chose Green Book last year and now I staying with 1917 as my pick even though I’m not so confident in it winning over Parasite. I saw “The Oscar Expert” on Youtube changed his Best Picture prediction and with good agruments  which made me feel the need to switch to Parasite.

I’m taking a risk and going with Parasite in Best Picture.:

    PICTURE: Parasite

    DIRECTOR: Sam Mendes – 1917
    ACTOR: Joaquin Phoenix – Joker
    ACTRESS: Renee Zellweger – Judy
SUPP. ACTOR: Brad Pitt – Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
SUPP. ACTRESS: Laura Dern – Marriage Story

    ORG. SCREENPLAY: Parasite
    AD. SCREENPLAY: Jojo Rabbit

    FILM EDITING: Ford v Ferrari
    CINEMATOGRAPHY: 1917
    SCORE: Joker
    COSTUME DESIGN: Little Women
PRODCUTION DESIGN: Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
    SOUND MIXING: 1917
    SOUND EDITING: 1917
    VISUAL EFFECTS: 1917
    MAKEUP & HAIR: Bombshell
SONG: (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again from Rocketman

    INTERNATIONAL FEATURE: Parasite
    DOCUMENTARY FEATURE: American Factory
    ANIMATED FEATURE: Klaus

DOCUMENTARY SHORT: Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl)
    ANIMATED SHORT: Hair Love
LIVE-ACTION SHORT: The Neighbors’ Window (tho I have Nefta Football Club as a really close alternative)

Things I will be looking for in the technical categories: if Parasite loses both Original Screenplay and Film Editing I will not expect it to win Best Picture (if it wins one and not the other it will still have a chance). If 1917 loses 2 out of 3 of Sound Editing/Mixing/Visual Effects I will not expect it to win Best Picture (if both happens it’s anyone’s guess what will happen).

Also: if 1917 wins Production Design and/or Original Score I will expect it to win BP.

I’ve said Parasite  and with actors in competing films rooting for it (and voting) I think it’s got a great shot. I think Mendes gets Director while Parasite gets picture. 1917 gets a bunch of tech awards (I do think Ford v. Ferrari gets sound editing), including sound mixing and cinematography. Parasite will get editing and screenplay with its picture win and international picture.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if we are all wrong and they go mad for Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood and give it Picture, Director and Original Screenplay?

I have Parasite in first but am tempted to move Hollywood to second.

I think OUATIH voters will have the strongest say in this fight IMO. They’re like the moderates in this oscar election. So do you think that OUATIH, these people in Hollywood would vote for 1917 or Parasite?

OR is it that in reality, OUATIH is actually garnering more #1 votes than 1917. Then it becomes the question of, will 1917 voters vote for OUATIH or Parasite?

If you liked OUATIH the most, what is your second pick?

If you liked 1917 the most, what is your second pick?

If the answers to the above are 1917 and OUATIH respectively, either film will win. If the answer is Parasite for even one of the above, Parasite will win.

1917 isn’t winning score. Joker has it. Even the BAFTAs gave it to Joker. VFX is either 1917 or Avengers. I think one sound award will go to Ford v. Ferrari. (Thinking sound editing.)

I’m not changing a single one of my predictions. I made last-minute changes before the Globes, BAFTA’s, and Oscar nominations and all 3 times it screwed me.

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay

I am predicting Joker in editing now but I went back to Bombshell for best make-up.

Imagine the happiness if Parasite wins BP and makes history. Please Academy, don´t choose another forgettable film.
