but there should have been a better balance of Leo, Brad, Margot and the Manson clan

    I totally agree.

Darlings, you better accept Once and Always Trash in Hollywood is just a Tarantino self-handjob. Not even the performances were great. DiCaprio was shouty again, Pitt only had sex appeal and Robbie was the standout.

Joker has made $543 millions in just 10 days.

$800-900 millions is looking possible, maybe even $1 billion is possible if it does well in China.

Darlings, Clownery is sadly getting a Best Picture nod.

The word of mouth from audiences is phenomenal! It only dropped 43% domestically and a stunning 29% internationally! Best Picture and lots of other Oscar nominations are virtually guaranteed!

oh my bad I should have looked at your profile pic before asking

If you were paying attention you’ll notice I didn’t say Joker would be winning Best Picture. And I’m perfectly fine with Driver winning Actor this year, even if Phoenix seems like the frontrunner right now. I think he’s a great actor and super deserving.

I generally don’t prefer Driver or Johansson, and when news broke about this Untitled Noah Baumbach Project potentially threatening the Best Picture race, I sorta scoffed because the Academy hasn’t really embraced him BUT AFTER SEEING IT, the film is just SO good. It keeps you actively engaged the whole time and was colored in a really nostalgic manner similar to Lady Bird, which gives it the feel of a memory/photograph. I know divorce between two upper middle class white people is nothing revelatory, but it really is such a unique film with a quirky cast and snappy writing and editing and I would fully support a Best Picture win. I just wish it wasn’t coming from Netflix. That $8 million budget would have been very doable by Sony Classics, Focus or A24. The bias is still too real and The Irishman is obnoxiously taking away all the attention.

Most definitely.. especially after the raves it got out of NYFF, but I’m just chalking that up to critics overreacting to seeing the film before anyone else and Scorsese, Pesci, Pacino and Deniro being present at all the screenings. I think overtime, audiences will begin to see the film for what it truly is

Woah, dude maybe you haven’t seen Scorsese movies and Scorsese mob movie. This is best filmmaker alive making movie of his strongest genre.

    Means Streets
    Goodfellas
    Casino
    The Departed
All these movies are instant classics especially(Goodfellas).

You may dislike mobster genre but The Irishman is getting same raves as Marriage Story and Parasite.

Netflix pushing most for The Irishman makes sense.Oscars or no Oscars,it is going to be this year’s best movie for sure(I mean Scorese doing mobster genre with this mobster movie legends.Who are we kidding?).

Exactly. He has done this half a dozen times now and it’s tired. And I have seen nearly his entire filmography and The Irishman doesn’t stand out at all. Wolf of Wall Street and Silence at least were a divergence for him.

It’s not like he hasn’t made other genres but mob genre is his strongest forte,it’s like Spielberg making war genre. These actors especially De Niro and Pacino are legends of mob movies.I expect A plus from The Irishman as a movie.

It seems you have seen it and you didn’t like it which is fine.
