My list of BOS contenders currently released, with notes as to whether the song appears in-film (i.e., before end credits) or in the end credits; the Music Branch still accepts the first song in the end credits but now strongly prefers in-film performances:

    Aladdin: “Speechless”
Writers: Alan Menken (music), Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (lyrics)
    Performer: Naomi Scott (in-film)

    The Lion King:
    (a) “Never Too Late”
Writers: Elton John (music), Tim Rice (lyrics)
    Performer: Elton John (end credits)
    (b) “Spirit”
Writers: Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Timothy McKenzie (Labrinth), Ilya Salmanzadeh
    Performer: Beyoncé (in-film)

Rocketman: “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”
Writers: Elton John (music), Bernie Taupin (lyrics)
Performers: Elton John & Taron Egerton (end credits)

    Toy Story 4:
    (a) “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy”
    Writer: Randy Newman
Performer: Chris Stapleton (end credits; Newman on soundtrack only)
    (b) “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away”
    Writer: Randy Newman
    Performer: Randy Newman (apparently in-film)

    UglyDolls: “Broken & Beautiful”
Writers: Christopher Comstock (Marshmello), Steve McCutcheon (Steve Mac), Johnny McDaid, Alecia Moore (Pink)
    Performer: Kelly Clarkson (apparently in-film)

There’s also two obvious contenders on the horizon:

Cats: I currently expect one new song with at a minimum music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics & performed by Taylor Swift. Possibly one additional song (likely if Lloyd Webber & Swift don’t collaborate) plus additional writers and/or performers. All likely in-film.

Frozen II: Kristen Anderson-Lopez has already confirmed she and husband Robert Lopez have recorded one new song with Kristen Bell; expect more, especially for Idina Menzel. All likely in-film.

My current nom predix: “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”, “Speechless”, “Spirit”, and one each from Cats & Frozen II. Winner: “Spirit”.

Honey, this will sweep the Globes, you’ll see. 🤣 But it’s getting multiple Razzie nods.

IMO only if Will Smith is also a Razzie contender. Contrary to the poor reax, the only ways to make Cats are (a) real catsuits like on stage, (b) CGI virtual catsuits like in the trailer, or (c) fire Tom Hooper and have Jon Favreau remake it.

Yeah, right saying he is one best actors and then saying he is playing himself for 80th time whereas he has acted in 26 movies till now. That is one of repetitive hate try and I see exactly what you did there.Go on and say you hate Leo in open, nothing wrong in that.Brad is more challenged?Yes,right like being a tough, macho stunt double with a resting smug look on his face who’s job is to look a bad-ass.It is Brad finally in something noticeable after Fury and looking cool and badass for handsome Brad,it is more like him playing himself again or a Tyler Durden Beta version.Leo’s character Rick is challenged, insecure and obsessed.I reckon you read reviews. There is a difference between “coolest performance” and “best performance”.I dont consider Brad in same tier of elite actors as Leo but that is another thing. Now coming to “2nd Due Oscar”I agree that is bullshit.First lets have Jake Gyllenhaal and Joaquin their first if it is matter of sympathies and overdue narratives. Then again if at the end of year Leo is deserving,he should win.Why not? As of now,Rick’s character details plus promos, trailers certainly tell that Leo deserves his 7th nomination and he has delivered yet again.

I don’t hate him. He’s a fine actor. I even feel he should have won his first Oscar for The wolf of Wall Street. But he seems to play similar characters all the time. OUATIH trailer looks like the adorable Leo from other movies and yes, Pitt appeared better in the trailer.

I’m sorry but Willem Dafoe needs to win his first Oscar, for either TLTHW or The Light house, before Brad Pitt wins his “first”. I bet both these performances are much worthier than Pitt’s playing a Hollywood stuntman.y

you lost your money, you should read the reviews, pitt is amazing, all the critics said it’s great

I think when it comes to Hollywood Pitt is more revered than dafoe … It has nothing to do with acting but with celebrity … Dafoe is the type of actor i see never winning … Pitt will win for acting .. he is the Sandra Bullock for men

pitt is a great actor, one of the best, he has a great filmography and the great directors want to work with him, this year could be his year with the tarantino movie and ad astra, critics have greatly appreciated his performance in the film tarantino, you should read the reviews, it’s probably the best actor of the year and deserves to win an oscar for his acting.

and it is the golden globe that rewards celebrities, not the oscar

Rocketman is purely a musical. It plays like every musical. There’s no way it’s going drama

I don’t know if Tom Hanks will get a nomination for this, the movie looks absolutely stunning but his performance look like some of his others. The screenplay seems a lock for me

It looks so nice, Tom Hanks nails the voice/sound but he seems a little too fat to be Mr. Rogers. Anyway, I can’t wait!

I’m surprised she has a Nigerian Igbo name. I had to check Google and I found out she’s of Jamaican heritage on Wikipedia. I still wonder how come the name.

I guess I’ll just be rooting for Cynthia Erivo
