Sorry if this has already been posted, but here’s an interesting article featuring opinions from voters from the UK.

Things I found most interesting: Almost unanimous mention of Pheonix, and many mentions for DeNiro and Pesci yet none for Pacino

    Yeah Joaquin is sweeping lol

Unanimous praise for Phoenix and only a few mentions of Driver’s performance, yet Driver’s still the frontrunner, LOL.

2018’s ceremony had 9 nominees. So did 2017

    2018 had 8 nominations.

I think this is going to be a rare scenario where there’s going to be 10 nominees, not least due to the competitiveness.

Oscars 2020: I stan Joaquin Phoenix, Willem Dafoe, Alan Silvestri, and Dean Deblois.

Emmys 2020: I stan Logan Lerman, Olivia Colman, and David Harbour.

Tom Hanks and Amy Adams stan in general.

Nope, I said the 2018 ceremony which refers to the year TSOW won. This one had 9 nominees

has anyone been as surprised as I have been that Joe Pesci is doing much better in the precursors )at least so far) than Al Pacino? I thought Pacino gave the better performance and could very well his 2nd Oscar but now I am reconsidering the category. I don’t think Pesci will wind up winning the Oscar though…

Some very good news for #Joker fans, spoke with multiple @TheAcademy voters last night, *all of them had it in their top films, one longtime member listed #JokerMovie as his #1 overall film, seeing it some 8X, telling me “if Joaquin doesn’t win best actor, it’ll be criminal”

Darlings, Duplicity is COMING as Thatcher has been telling you. I am going to laugh at all of you, dear haters. She’s getting the nod.

As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

I’m starting to think Jojo might not win Picture after all. Hopefully this means Parasite wins instead, since that’s the only film this year I liked more. At the very least it will still win Adapted Screenplay for sure.

I also find it weird. I thought Pesci was great, but Pacino felt much better to me, and it seemed like the popular opinion was that Pacino’s better. I get the feeling that a lot of this Pesci love stems from him coming out of retirement. Maybe its just due to sheer stubbornness, but I still think Pacino will be a bigger threat to take the Oscar than Pesci. Either way, both are extremely likely to make the final lineup.
