In the event of Dafoe not getting a nomination for the Oscars, I am going to change my account to a Thatcher-esque gimmick account of an angry historical figure. Any recommendations?

    For Your Consideration:

    Best Picture: Parasite
Best Supporting Actor: Willem Dafoe - The Lighthouse
Best Animated Feature: Weathering With You, Promare
    Best International Film: Parasite

If you’re really gonna go through with that, you might as well do a person who Dafoe’s played like Max Schreck or Vincent Van Gogh.

Do that vampire he did in Shadow of the Vampire.

… How is A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood still above 100/1 odds? It hasn’t had much in the way of precursor momentum, Tom Hanks isn’t the frontrunner for Supporting Actor early overoptimistic predictions pegged him to be, and it had a bad Globes nomination morning.

Damn shame, the sincerety of this film would have been a welcome presence in a year that has so many films lathered in irony or pain.

And The Irishman, which is even more surprising considering it’s by costuming rock-star Sandy Powell. And the work she and Christopher Peterson did was extensive.

I’m still predicting both that and Little Women for the Oscars, as the period nominees there often differ from the guilds, and it’s worth noting that Little Women designer Jacqueline Durran was not nominated by the guild for either Mr. Turner or Darkest Hour yet the Academy costume branch still nominated her for both.

Adolf Hitler? Or even better, do a Bruno Ganz in Downfall subtitle parody on Dafoe’s snub.

Little Women missed Hair and Makeup, Production Design and Costume Design guilds. OUCH.

Aladdin had a lot of costumes, many of which were quite vibrant. I’m not shocked by its inclusion.
