With Black Panther’s success, there could be a small chance for Avengers as a dark horse contender.

I doubt it. Black Panther had a major cultural/historical significance to back it up. Avengers, on the other hand, does not. Star Wars has a better chance than Avengers does but that’s not saying much since it’s going to be tough for that one too.

A certain TV continuation contender is having a test screening tomorrow night. We’ll see what the early word is. I remember hearing rumblings from early last year that Beautiful Boy was a mess… which turned out to be true… and cost poor Chalamet his 2nd Oscar nom. Hopefully the film lives up to the series/hype.

ah yes, Cats, Downtown Abbey and The Gemini Man are surely leading contenders, and Toy Story 4 and Us are strong contenders, yet Jojo Rabbit and Marriage Story are simply other possibilities.

    Feeling pretty confident about:

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood
    The Irishman
    Little Women
    1917
    Marriage Story
    The Farewell
    Jojo Rabbit

Wondering what’s up with these, do they stand a chance or are they just bait, flops, etc:

    The Laundromat
    Fair & Balanced
    Queen & Slim
    Ford V. Ferrari
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
    The Report
    Queen & Slim
    Joker

Avengers Endgame has one big advantage that no one is talking about. Every highest grossing film of all time since the Oscar’s began has been nominated for (or won) Best Picture, with only one exception: Jurassic Park. And Spielberg still won that year for Schindler’s List, so it’s not impossible to imagine that film preventing Jurassic Park from getting a nomination. Plus, Endgame had more critical acclaim than any other Marvel film save for Black Panther, and one blockbuster seems to get in almost every year. I don’t think it’s a guarantee, but Endgame definitely has a chance.

Darlings, the only thing nod-worthy apart from the technical side in Endgame were Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. Not deserving of a nod in Best Picture at all.

LENA HEADEY hasn't got an Emmy for Game of Thrones????? Emmys you need to win her right now!!

Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones") for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

If Lena Headey doesn't win the Emmy, I'm leaving GoldDerby forever.
