Bohemian Rhapsody damn near won Best Picture with negative critical reception. Joker being divisive won’t make a dent in its Oscar chances, especially if it becomes as big of a box office hit as we think it’ll be.

Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t close to winning Best Picture, don’t be fooled by that horrid Globe win. Literally the worst, most flawed win in history

but I agree that the critical reception may not hurt Phoenix’s chances if there’s enough passion behind his performance

The amount of times I have to repeat this… sigh.

It’s literally no surprise BR won over the Academy. It’s literally a crowdpleasing biopic about FREDDIE MERCURY. Joker is a comic book movie (that’s ALREADY something the Academy despises) and with the genre bias it will face + the massive backlash + the critical reception, it will not have it easy like BR.

A Clockwork Orange was received way better by critics than Joker is right now imo, it was certainly divisive but not in the same way that Joker is. I can guarantee you that Todd Phillips’ influence on the movie likely frames it in a very different way than Kubrick with ACO

AGAIN very different movies. BR was an exception.

Joker is yellow with 60 on MC.

There’s way too many critics calling it best movie of the year to be ignored. And like someone said, Bohemian Rhapsody got plenty of Oscar nominations with a 49 metascore. And 70% on Rotten Tomatoes is not bad, plenty of excellent movies are in the 60-70 range (like one of the best film of all time for me, Interstellar with 72%(!!) So, we’ll see!

Clockwork was a masterpiece then and it still is. It is prescience in unrestrained form.
Don’t expect that from Joker but wouldn’t be surprised if I like this movie.

Well she likes Seth Rogan. Wonder what kind of Joker he’d have made.

Disney has started heavy campaign for Avengers:EndGame.

Last year we saw Academy nominating movies that score high at box office in favor of more viewership and buzz.

Can the Biggest Movie of All Time score some serious wins and nominations next season?

These Joker reviews make it seem like it’s a Lars Von Trier movie.

1917 features my favorite cinematographer and a cast I’ve seen work together before.
Not a huge fan of Mendes but we’ll see.

1917 feels like Dunkirk Redux. Don’t get me wrong, I liked Dunkirk a lot, but I feel like its too soon for another WWI epic.

Why are you so against a “Her” reunion in the Oscar press room? Lol

And from where is that Mariah footage?
