Already seeing late breaking films suffer in other guilds with Little Women missing Costume and 1917 missing Sound Mixing. Makes me feel more confident leaving out most of the late comers. Though still sticking with Pugh since i got such great odds on her.

I can’t seem to find the original thread but Leonardo DiCaprio will be presenting Robert De Niro his lifetime achievement award:

I have wanted to ask Chris to add Sam Rockwell to the predictions centre for Richard Jewell, but I am scared of being literally the only person to predict him and get it wrong. I suppose that it is moot though because my fifth-ranked Song Kang Ho is not getting in over Al Pacino.

Little Women is going blank tomorrow. Supporting Actress will be a mess.

I think Pugh and Ronan still get nominated, but it misses out on Ensemble.

One thing I noticed about this category was that Actress is usually all white. So I’m taking a risk and predicting Johansson, Zellweger, Theron, Ronan, and Miren. Hopefully my gamble pays off.

Darlings, Duplicity is getting in SAG. Just wait and see, dear citizens.

Hopefully not. Lupita Nyong’o should replace Mirren on that list.

Pugh is not making it unless Supporting Actress is THAT bad to the point where they had to include her. The film is continuously missing guilds and several regionals that require visibility. That’s an issue. Similarly with Bombshell as well.

The category being all white is arbitrary. That’s not a stat, that’s from the state of the race from each year. The only POC women in Lead Actress this decade has been Viola Davis because she was actually in strong contention. Others like Quvenzhane Wallis, Ruth Negga, Yalitza Aparicio who got the Oscar nods missed here because their films were inaccessible or had late screeners.

Pugh herself has been nominated for every critic award she was eligible for though, even though the film itself didn’t get much love. She was a lock for an Oscar nomination before inexplicably missing the Globes. I think that was just a fluke so they could name-check Benning, and she’ll get back on track here.

I think the one place Pugh should have made it would have been the Globes. She didn’t make it there so I’m not going to predict her here. Especially with Smith and Bening being right there.

Probably true. Maybe we see Marisa Tomei from Frankie or Julianne Moore from After the Wedding. Big names from earlyish screeners from random movies sent to the committee.
