Neither DLU or Chastain. Bad day for KB83 I guess.

I really am finding it hard to enjoy this start to the critics awards. These Negga snubs are just horrific. Especially considering we know WAFCA watched Passing. It’s just so frustrating.

However, I’m very happy to see some love for Tessa Thompson, Kirsten Dunst, Ann Dowd, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

    FYC -
Picture: The Power of the Dog, Spencer, The Lost Daughter, Mass
Director: Jane Campion, Pablo Larraín, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Fran Kranz
    Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch
Actress: Kristen Stewart, Tessa Thompson, Olivia Colman
Supporting Actor: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Corey Hawkins, Jason Isaacs
Supporting Actress: Ruth Negga, Kirsten Dunst, Rebecca Ferguson, Martha Plimpton, Ann Dowd
    O. Screenplay: Spencer, Mass
    A. Screenplay: The Power of the Dog, The Lost Daughter
    Score: Jonny Greenwood (Dog/Spencer)

Kotsur keeps picking up noms, hopefully this leads to something. Nice and unexpected to see Dune showing up in screenplay. Also nice to see Mass and C’mon C’mon getting some noms.

Finally signed up after reading for a while. What an exciting season this year!

    Best Voice Performance:

I hadn’t realized they recognized this, and wish more groups would. It’s a unique skilllset that a lot of actors flop at, but is increasingly prominent between animation and all-CGI characters in live action.

Negga’s snubs hurt me a lot (she’s my personal winner in her category!) but you know what hurts me more? The fact Martha Plimpton has made it in nowhere at all. At least Negga is in and has been in the conversation whilst the fact Plimpton hasn’t is incredibly devastating. She was gut-wrenching in Mass.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight" and "The Other Two" in all categories.

Yeah they both missed out today. Today I get to feel what Jodie Comer fans will feel like everyday for award season… 0 for 6 now right?

They have a great track record with the Oscars though so Chastain missing here is really bad. Fighting for that last spot. I hope Tessa gets it.

    Use awardswatch’s calendar:

    https://awardswatch.com/2021-2022-film-awards-calendar/embed/#?secret=q6STTPL7Uj

We have noms or awards nearly every day in December.

Thanks for the referral link, I appreciate it!

The 13th is this year’s D-Day: Golden Globe and Critics Choice noms, Phoenix, Chicago, South Eastern nominations.

Glad to see Mass get three noms but honestly , I cant believe they snubbed Isaac and Plimpton.
Also I cant believe I’m saying this, but Jamie Dornan looks like he might be getting in at the Oscars.

Oh most definitely darling. I finally got the chance to watch Mass about three weeks ago and Plimpton is the absolute MVP for me. It takes some serious acting talent to take an already masterfully written script like Fran Kranz’s and elevate it even further and beyond. She took my heart and absolutely shattered it. Ann Dowd is rightfully and deservingly starting to get her dues from these critics awards, but it would be an immense disappointment if Plimpton gets left out of that love as well because her performance was otherworldly.
