George Clooney’s next movie The Midnight Sky will also be released by Netflix. It’s based on a critically acclaimed novel with a very interesting plot.

Miley Cyrus is coming for Best Original Song.

I think the 2nd film has already started production, so that won’t happen. But he probably won’t make a blockbuster again if Dune bombs, so I am hoping against hope it does better.

From what I read the other day, it sounds like they’re working on writing the sequel, but it has yet to be green lit by the studio.

Personally, I’m not super interested in Dune (I’ll very likely check it out though), but I’d feel really bad for Villeneuve if he doesn’t get to finish off the story.

Dune 2 isn’t showing as being in development on his IMDB page so I think it’s very much in the early stages. There is a TV show Dune: Sisterhood that’s been announced but that’s more of a spinoff.

Presumably if the sequel is dependent on the first one doing well, this first part has been structured in such a way that it works both as a standalone story and the first of two parts.

I wonder how Denis is gonna pull off Dune. It’s gonna be amazing sure, but I get Blade Runner 2049 vibes. (Huge critical acclaim, but is a HUGE flop at the box office. Even worse now with the whole virus.)

I don’t think Dune looks anywhere close to as good as Villeneuve’s previous films. Hopefully I’m wrong, but the trailer did absolutely nothing for me. Could barely get through it.

I think the problem with Dune is that adapting just the first half isn’t going to make for an exciting enough film for people to want to see the second half unless they’re already familiar with the source material. It’s not Lord of the Rings – a lot less people have read it.

Had a Google and it looks like the sequel isn’t officially green lit.

I think Ronan can happen without Winslet. Granted, Ronan’s never been nominated without a Best Picture nominee before, but she has enough love from the Academy that in a field as widely open as this one seems to be, she could just end sliding right in (especially since NEON won’t be campaigning anything else this season). It’s rare, but the Oscars do occasionally nominate individual performances from movies with more mixed reviews (hello Kathy Bates!), but the name has to be a big, respected, popular one, and I can’t think of anyone who fits that bill better than Saoirse.

I don’t currently have her in my predictions because I wanted to take advantage of good odds on Lily Collins and Ellen Burstyn, but I don’t think Saoirse is out of this race the way Winslet probably is.

No. He sounds good but nowhere near Bardem in Skyfall.

Official trailer for The Father (although the other European cut was more effective imo)

This has original compositions by Ludovico Einaudi btw.
