I know what he said? Let me use other words so you understand: She was already recognized, with a win and another nomination, and that is more than plenty of actors have so they won’t feel the need to give her more.

I think the Academy should/need to give her more if she’s deserving of such an honor. If the performance is great (and considering her reputation) I believe she will be able to land a 3rd Oscar nom. Simply because she might be deserving

    Don’t patronize me like that.

Winning and being nominated before has never hurt someone and it won’t hurt Loren. You’re really reaching with this theory.

Imagine reaching and saying iconic 60s actress and one of the biggest big screen icons ever Sophia Loren will not be nominated because she has an Oscar. I mean in that case we’re LOCKED for a line up of Adams, Buckley, Day, Kirby and Pfeiffer lol.

I feel like we’re descending into the same territory we were in during the 2019 Oscars. Whilst I don’t think she’s happening people seem to have this idea for example that there is no way Amy Adams gets nomination like they did with Glenn in 2019 and I find that premature when we haven’t seen her film and don’t know the response to it yet. Or there are some people who are saying that so and so is locked for an award when we have no news of their film yet. I mean I can understand if it’s like The Father or Nomadland or Pieces of a Woman where we know people like either the films or the performances in those films but a lot of films still haven’t been released yet. It wasn’t long ago people were saying Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan were locks.

In fact I’ll go so far to say that this happens every year. Despite Renee Zellweger and Joaquin Phoenix receiving a ton of festival awards, praises and standing ovations for their performances people were convinced that people like Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson were winning this time last year when there was no evidence to suggest (at least for the former) that her performance or film was good. Same thing in 2018. People were shouting throughout the super early awards season that Gaga was a lock or that Christian Bale was a lock for the win at the Oscars and BAFTAs and that Rami Malek’s film would flop (at one point someone said he would get nominated at the Razzies). I mean I think whilst we can predict people whose films haven’t aired yet or films that we don’t know the responses of yet we need to take a step back and wait before we make assumptions that they’re locked.

Anyway that’s all I want to say about that.

One question: do you think Olivia Colman is lead or supporting in The Father?

I don’t have any theory. That member said it may be their last time to recognize her and I answered: they already recognized her so there is no pressure to do it again. I was pretty clear.

I never said that. Check the previous post.
The reasons why I don’t think she will be nominated were said in my first post.

Your first post isn’t a good argument either. You said she could miss because showy roles have missed before, which applies to literally every actor with a showy role and not just her.

Then you said she’s not as beloved as her competitors, which is untrue because she’s a widely heralded as a screen legend.

And then you just said you don’t think she’s that talented, which makes your whole snub prediction sound like you’re not a fan and therefore don’t want to predict her.

Netflix is now being investigated by the United States Government over possible violations of child pornogrophy laws for Cuties. Iy’s no longer a partisan issue either: both Democrats and Relublicans are looking into it. I doubt they will be prosecuted but the controversy as a whole is getting really bad now. Netflix subscriptions are being cancelled en masse and their stock is dropping like a rock. For the first time I’m taking seriously the possibility that this will cost them at the Oscars.

I said she is not as beloved as the other veterans who are in contention, meaning McDormand, Davis and Pfeiffer which is factually true. And the other two are of course vague arguments as the season is just starting. Did you expect anything else?

Could those even apply to Cuties since it is a French film?

As someone who has seen the play I’d say borderline Lead/Supporting. Let’s say like Sarah Snook in Succession. Hopkins’s character is the heart of the story but Colman’s is quite significant still.

Saying you don’t think someone’s very talented isn’t a vague argument, it’s your opinion, and makes it sound like you’re other reasons are being brought up just cause you don’t want her in the lineup.

Colman would be silly to not go supporting.

Yes, personal opinions are a factor on predictions when we are just starting. Can you move on?

Would be hilarious if this meant Searchlight and Amazon swept! Arise Rachel Brosnahan!

    meaning McDormand, Davis and Pfeiffer

The same Viola Davis who missed for Widows and the same Michelle Pfeiffer who has not been nominated since 1992 are not IMO more respected than Sophia Loren (who pretty much people of all ages have heard and is someone who is literally mentioned as the butt of jokes on Emmy winning television shows today).
