I’m going to put Riz in my predictions just because I don’t think I would have even heard of his movie unless there was legitimate buzz. If this BA lineup works out I swear it’ll be one of the best of the last several years.

According to Gold Derby odds, 6 of the top 7 Best Actor contenders are British. That means there could be an all British lineup for Best Actor. Has that ever happened before?

4/5 in 1964 were British (Harrison, Sellers, O Tool & Burton) and again in in 1983 (Conti, Cane, Courtenay & Finney).

    Since then there’s also been 3/5 British nominees in 66, 68, 72, 93 and 17.

Was Judas and the Black Messiah’s eligibility confirmed? It seems easy to miss the deadline.

The fact that they released a trailer last month and just released their poster like a week ago, makes me think they’re aiming for January of February. I think Feb would actually be perfect since it’s black history month.

yea i agree, it would make no sense for them to start promoting the film now if they had the intention of releasing next fall or say like over the summer.

    It’s a February release.

Just found out that Kaluuya could actually become the first black actor to win for lead actor since Whitaker in 2006, he could also become the youngest black actor to recieve two oscar nominations and he could become the youngest black actor to win for lead actor. Hoping that history is made in April!

From the trailer I think is pretty clear that Kaluuya is going Lead, Stanfield don’t even say a word in it.

I got the complete opposite impression while watching that trailer. It seems like Stanfield is more central to the plot. But honestly, they could probably go either way.

Yea it’s definitely confirmed now that Kaluuya refused to give you an autograph.

Clooney own directed films have been giving diminishing returns for years now.

He’s not 6th until proven otherwise and certainly not ahead of Kaluuya.

He’s not even top 15 imo

People here have way too much faith in Lindo.

He isn’t. He’s not even safe for a nomination.

I think he’ll get in at SAG and CC and will be fighting for the 5th slot.

I still think several users are way overstimating Da 5 Bloods in general.
