Annette is going to Cannes 2021 so Carax’s movie is not elogible at the 2021 academy awards. Carax has been promised  to have a premiere in Cannes 2021, it will be the most anticipated movie of the festival and he wants to show there.

lmao is Telluride gonna cancel now? I don’t see critics or talent going and after the Oscars announcement, a lot of titles will move later in the year.

Well considering Netflix has already stated that they (most likely) won’t go to any film festivals this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if the other distributors started doing the same thing.

    FYC Emmys:

    THE CROWN

    Jane Lapotaire (Drama Guest Actress)
Helena Bonham Carter (Drama Supporting Actress)
    Josh O'Connor (Drama Supporting Actor)
    Olivia Colman (Drama Actress)
    Tobias Menzies (Drama Actor)
    Charles Dance (Drama Guest Actor)

    KILLING EVE

Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh (Drama Actress)
    Fiona Shaw (Drama Supporting Actress)
    Evgenia Dodina (Drama Guest Actress)
    Sean Delaney (Drama Guest Actor)

Next Goal Wins was meant to be an early 2021 release even before these crappy eligibility extensions rules, thus it wasn’t perceived to be an award season film regardless.

So I’d say that it probably will be a March or April release now.

    Best Actor:

    1. Anthony Hopkins- The Father
    2. Delroy Lindo- Da 5 Bloods

What makes you think Lindo is going lead? I don’t have a strong opinion on this, just wanted to know your thoughts.

Lindo is definitely lead. If his character arc doesn’t prove that to you then check a recent stat of his screen time. Basically if he goes supporting and wins he’d have the longest screen time for winner in that category, more than Waltz in Django, Ali in GB and Pitt in OUATiH. He’s in more than 52% of the movie and should go lead, but he may choose to go supporting and compete in a less crowded category.

    1. Hopkins

    2. Lindo

    3. Oldman

    4. Murray

    5. Hanks

    (6.Garfield 7.Damon 8.Boseman)

(Lots of conversations around Twitter that Lindo is indeed Lead, so I think that’s where they will put him).

What about Viggo Mortensen directing himself in Falling? May he get a nomination? And I heard that Hugh Jackman gave a great performance in Bad Education. Then if Nightmare Alley comes out in january or February 2021 B.Cooper will surely get a nomination. 100%.

    1) B.Murray

    2) B.Cooper

    3) A.Hopkins

    4) G.Oldman

    5) One between Hanks/Fassbender/Redmayne

Screen time doesn’t negate the fact that Da 5 Bloods has no definite lead. It’s an ensemble film. The story is based on a group of characters. Not one singular role.

From what I read, most of the principal cast share equal or a little under the same amount of time on screen.

Lindo is supporting and will win that category.

This is competing at the Emmys. And I don’t think Nightmare Alley will make a Jan/Feb release date.

I said this in my review of Da Five Bloods on it’s thread, but Delroy Lindo is Supporting. Structurally he shares the the role of protagonist with the other 3 living bloods, and screentime wise he doesn’t have much more than them. Da Five Bloods is an ensemble film, and will be treated as such at the Oscars.
