I do think it’s probably going to be between strong or cohen or maybe even yahya depending on the size of his role in the film.

I also think it’s between those three, although I think Cohen will go lead. I can also see Langella getting traction, as he’s the main villain being the judge.

Aaron Sorkin, a stellar cast, timely subject matter, and Netflix backing it.

That doesn’t make it a guaranteed smash. It needs to live up to the hype.

But at this point those factors provide a solid basis for confidence. Obviously we can’t be certain about any of these movies yet.

You can say that about literally all of these movies were considering. This one clearly has a lot going for it, so it makes sense to predict.

Kaluuya looked awesome in that trailer. Stanfield also looked strong. Based on the trailer, it seems like a two hander.

I’d love it if this year could finally be his breakout year. He’s an incredibly talented, young, black actor who has had small supporting roles in several high profile films (Get Out, Knives Out, Uncut Gems, etc…) but whenever he turns out a great lead performance it’s in a film that gets largely ignored, like Sorry to Bother You. Maybe this will finally be his year.

Do we even know that Judas and the Black Mesiah will be eligible? It’s scheduled to release in 2021, so unless it releases in January or February it won’t be.

I think that’s what they’re aiming for is a January or February release because they wouldn’t have released a trailer this early if they intended on releasing past those two months.
