Someone needs to convince Ridley Scott to retire, he’s nearly 83 years old, and he’s been a hit and miss in recent years. Come on!!

I love how everybody thinks The Last Duel is going to be bad based off of literally three random candid photos.

Hillbilly only needs to be a lone nod for Close.

Disagree, I’ve seen multiple predictions for Picture, Actress and Screenplay amongst other things…

    FYC:

Swinton, Weerasethakul Memoria, (Best Actress, Director)
Efira, Rampling, Wilson Benedetta (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)
    Rapace Lamb (Best Actress)
Stewart, Hawkins, Spall Spencer (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)

I don’t see Dune being a major contender outside of technical categories.

If Netflix doesn’t completely bury Da 5 Bloods it can still get nods for Picture, Screenplay, some technical nods and Delroy Lindo but I’m not sure it’s a top-tier contender. We’ll see how the season settles.

Also I feel like Amy Adams and Glenn Close could be the only nominees for The Hillbilly Elegy.

They are pretty damning photos though. Also it’s not like Ridley Scott’s recent filmography has been stellar.

I think the nominations that people often predict for it are for acting (Close and Adams) and Screenplay. Picture has been predicted by some users as well and some tech categories like Make-up and Hairstyling, Cinematography, Score, could also be possibilities. I don’t necessarily think the movie is going to flop. It’s one of the main priorities for Netflix and Erik from Awards Watch said he’s hearing phenomenal things about Close (and the movie). I think the number of nominations for Hillbilly Elegy will depend on how much Netflix campaigns for it.

I feel like the Oscars could be too scared about accusations of racism to completely ignore Da 5 Bloods.

I mean, Lindo is a lock for a nomination (especially if he goes supporting). But I don’t see any scenario where D5B gets in any other category.

Have a great day if you see this!

As was said above Delroy Lindo is pretty much in at the moment. And while Da 5 Bloods might not get to the Oscars, there’s plenty of POC the Academy could embrace and not be accused of racism. (Chloé Zhao, Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Chadwick Boseman, Trevante Rhodes, Andra Day, Lee Isaac Chung, Steven Yeun, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, etc.)

It’s the Coronavirus era. Anything can get nominated. Now that every movie is getting postponed and postponed, shouldn’t Da 5 Bloods be a frontrunner?
