As we’ve started to get trailers and more information for next years films, I thought it would be appropriate to start a thread for next year’s Academy Awards. Fun Fact: The First Thread for this year’s Academy Awards was created in June 2018.
The last thread was taken down for an unknown reason but we might as well start a new one.
ReplyHave a great day if you see this!

Supporting Actor was the struggle and Netflix could push Ma Rainey’s with Hillbilly Elegy or drop it for Glenn Close/Amy Adams, so I don’t how well this will hold up lol.
“No user starts this shady” - someone culturally relevant.
Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.

A Quiet Place 2 should be good enough to score the sound nominations and push Emily Blunt for a Best Actress nod.
Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will be an easy front-runner for Best Original Score with Black Panther composer Ludwig Goransson handling it instead of long-time collaborator Hans Zimmer. It is also very possible for the film to claim spots in Original Screenplay and Directing.
Macbeth will be the first time dir. Joel Coen would not be working with his brother Ethan Coen. It will star two caliber actors, Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand. Both may be nominated in acting categories.
Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach would write the screenplay to a live-action Barbie film. Margot Robbie is set to star as the famous doll after Anne Hathaway departed from the role. The film is also said to be directed by Gerwig.

Kathy Bates, Richard JewellJuly 18, 2019 at 7:45 am #1202982748Whoever the nominees are they better give Glenn Close an award whether she deserves it or not. Although a supporting award seems like a slap on the face but she deserves to win something.

If she wins supporting she triple crowns which feels more urgent.
July 18, 2019 at 9:44 am #1202982982Supporting is just as good as leading these days, so I doubt Close really cares that much anyways. Yes, she may be more recognizable as a leading woman, but I can think of countless actors that are considered leading stars (Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Angelina Jolie, to name a few) who won in supporting. The category itself isn’t going to disrupt her career in any way; she’ll get press regardless for finally winning AND achieving the triple crown, if she takes home a trophy.
July 18, 2019 at 10:50 am #1202983163Glenn Close will win (deservedly so) for Sunset Boulevard.
July 18, 2019 at 10:58 am #1202983190Acting win predictions:
Best Actress – Glenn Close, Sunset Boulevard / Jennifer Hudson, Respect
Best Actor – Denzel Washington, Macbeth / Bill Murray, On the Rocks
Best Supporting Actress – Rita Moreno, West Side Story / Glenn Close, Hillbilly Elegy
Best Supporting Actor – Tom Hanks, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic / Chadwick Boseman, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
July 18, 2019 at 11:50 am #1202983314Sunset Boulevard is still out of the question so let’s not talk about it. Right now, Close’s safest bet is supporting in Hillbilly Elegy because the film is actually happening. Amy would potentially be split with her co-star the third time in her career if she chooses supporting, and rumor has it that her role is actually smaller than Close’s. Let’s see how this all will turn out.
