So Frances McDormand will be having three great projects next year: The French Dispatch, Nomadland, and Macbeth. What a great year for her.

    It’s what she deserves

FYC: Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes

I won’t believe Sunset is happening until it’s literally started filming at this point lol. I’m not sure about an October start date because Four Good Days is due to start filming in September. I doubt Close films three movies back to back to back, especially when the first two (Hillbilly and Four Good Days) are such heavy material. But even if she doesn’t film Sunset and it doesn’t come out next year, those two other films (if good) are reallllly baity roles and could easily win her an Oscar.

Oh, I didn’t see about Four Good Days in september….

In that case, I’m happy she stil has two good shots in the bag

I have a feeling that John David Washington will get nominated for Tenet due to his snub for BlacKkKlansman. I also think Robert Pattinson will get nominated.

By the way, does anyone know anything about The Good Spy and when it begins filming?

Oscars 2020: I stan Joaquin Phoenix, Alan Silvestri, and Dean Deblois.

Emmys 2020: I stan Logan Lerman, Olivia Colman, and David Harbour.

Tom Hanks and Amy Adams stan in general.

List of acting nominees from Nolan films:

    Heath Ledger- The Dark Knight

Even though all predictions 18 months in advance are ludicrous, I would hesitate to assume a spy-movie with a summer release will get acting traction

If I’m recalling correctly from reading about the project since he’s adapting the original novel, Collette’s character is only in the beginning/first half and Blanchett is the one who has the baity role (albeit still Supporting but basically Amy Dunne). So I doubt she gets in unless she coattails and goes Supporting. But Cooper definitely is, and he and Blanchett (from what I’ve read) could be super competitive for the wins based on their material. Picture is a good bet, and if Del Toro could sweep for TSOW, he can get in for this too. Dafoe, however, I don’t know about.

If I’m recalling correctly from reading about the project since he’s adapting the original novel, Collette’s character is only in the beginning/first half and Blanchett is the one who has the bigger and extremely baity role (albeit still Supporting and basically Amy Dunne).

Which is odd, because everything I’ve read about it says that Colette is the female lead. Guess I’ll have to pick up a copy of the novel sometime soon. And I’ll take Dafoe out if he misses for The Lighthouse this year, but he’s gotten in twice in a row the past two years, so I think he’s on a hot streak.

And that’s without Ronan or Adams, which were tough calls to make. But if that’s the nominee lineup next year, I’ll explode.

Also, I think McDormand misses out next year

Yeah, she’s a major player (albeit basically supporting) in the beginning/first-half but drops off after (though, she is the second top-billed in the 1947 film). Of course Del Toro will probably be adding more material for Collette, but the novel is, after she’s gone, mostly centered on Cooper’s con man getting to the point of meeting and beginning a relationship with Blanchett’s psychiatrist to con people, then the resultant aftermath of that relationship. I’m watching the film now and I don’t know if Dafoe could get in if given similar material.

Pixar’s ‘Soul’: an aspiring jazz musician’s soul that travels back into the infinite to commune with as-yet-unformed consciousnesses. Concept art clearly influenced by A Matter of Life and Death, score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross

Ladies and gents, our 2021 Best Animated Feature Winner. Add Original Screenplay and Score at the very least too.
