    Who am I rooting for?

Whoever’s work took the most risk with the most reward and best exemplifies cinema as art, rather than just something that pandered to a crowd. (Both are, of course, possible.)

Whoever will use this as a jumping off point to a whole new phase in their career providing us with such art.

Whoever has the guts to use their speech not as a whirlwind of gushing gratitude, but actually as a statement for something they believe in, regardless of if some people are or aren’t ready to hear it. Bonus points if it is specifically about how the crafts should be on the damn show live – all of them – every year, no exceptions.

That’s who I am always rooting for.
