Pinocchio kind of disappointed me, but maybe it’s because I don’t 100% vibe with Del Toro. I also thought Shape of Water was good, not completely great.

Last year, they nominated Sing 2 instead of Flee, so can this year some foreign language animated film sneak in? replacing minions?
I know that Flee was much stronger, but still…

Inu-Oh seems to be the most high-profile foreign animated film this year. Cautiously optimistic about its nomination.

Minions will definitely miss at the Oscars. It probably just got in because it made over $900 million worldwide and the 5th spot is not clear. The other four movies are obviously locked in for the nomination.

What a great year for this category, whew.

This is actually one of the weaker years for animated features with so many being underwhleming and we can’t even fill up the top 5 with real strong contenders atm.
