That fifth spot is gonna be The Bad Guys.

I just love movies. And awards.

Is PUSS IN BOOTS about to win Animated Feature ? Box office hit, fantastic audience scores and Pinocchio didn’t do well in nominations

That’s possible now and I’ll be fine with either of these two winning. One has the strongest screenplay and the other has the best crafts among all animated films this year.

Hopefully this nomination means they’ll greenlight a Sea Beast 2 now

Eh I doubt it. Would have to have a hell of a campaign and frankly I don’t think it has a better narrative than say, Marcel or Turning Red. But Pinocchio will win, make no mistake.

I mean all of the critic awards went to Pinocchio, Marcel and Turning Red. I don’t think any of them went to Puss in Boots 2.

I think that was already in the works.

Things I learned from these nominations:

    – GKIDS is pretty much done for as an Oscars campaigner.

    – Cartoon Saloon’s streak is over.

    – The Academy really, REALLY wants nothing to do with anime.

    – They’re also tired of non-American animated movies in general.

    – We might not see traditional animated movies in that category again.

    – Being nominated at the Globes and Critics Choice no longer guarantees a nomination.

    – The Academy prefers family-friendly movies.

They have Hayao Miyazaki’s movie coming up though. That might be enough for a nod.
