So, has anyone here seen INU-OH? I guess not (and neither will the Oscar voters).

An Early Look At This Year’s Animated Feature Oscar Race

Turning Red is a frontrunner, Pinocchio by Del Toro is a lock for a nomination.

Wendell & Wild – Rated PG-13 for some thematic material, violence, substance use and brief strong language.

Interesting. This one is a likely candidate for Best Animated Feature. I wonder if the Oscars will keep insisting that animation is “just for kids.”

Pinocchio is a lock for a nomination, as I see it.

I have it as a strong 6. Leaving it off the list was a difficult decision (and obviously things can change between now and Jan 24th)

I’m currently thinking with two Netflix stop-motion pictures in contention that they may cancel each other out.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Lightyear gets nominated despite it being unpopular. Most Academy members don’t take this category seriously and just vote for whatever Disney/Pixar released during the year.

By the way, this is Canada’s submission to the Oscars. Is it going to pull a FLEE and get nominated for International, Documentary, and Animated Feature?

    I don’t see why not.

My fathers dragon is at LFF! I’m not super sure about this – it’s a simpler art style – but I trust Cartoon Saloon.

Pinocchio also is! LFF is a big turning point for the animation race.

    My Favourite Albums

    Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides - SOPHIE

Hounds of Love - Kate Bush

Since I Left You - The Avalanches

Twin Fantasy - Car Seat Headrest

    Vespertine - Bjork

What about My Father’s Dragon too? I think that’s a good possibility for a nomination.

If they don’t go for Disney this year, I wouldn’t underestimate Henry Selick & Jordan Peele.

Wendell & Wild seems to be getting good reviews.

Don’t know if it will be hyped up enough for a nomination.

100% on Rottentomatoes, but 9 reviews and a 7.1/10 average.

I guess we’ll wait for more reviews.

Despite that there are roster of great animated films this year, Academy still doesn’t care about animation and thinks that it’s designed only for kids. And so, Disney/Pixar still prevails in the end, sadly.

The PG-13 rating is going to hurt its chances: less likely that the Academy voters’ children will like it.

Also, they only care about western animation so anime rarely gets nominated.
