Shaun the Sheep Movie was helped though because it was A: stop-motion and B: from the people that created Wallace and Gromit, a respected franchise that had already won three Academy Awards.

Puss in Boots reactions look fun. Sad that I got here too late before I can get good odds for them.
I miss the older system because I feel like Marcel had a better shot at a nomination with that one.

the imdb thing is irrelevant, bob’s burger movie has better cinemascore that the simpsons movie. An A- from the audience for a long awaited movie like the simpson movie was super mediocre. It’s a movie that easily could have an A+ if it has the quality from the season 13 for example. But no, was like the season 18 quality

bob’s burger: a movie boicoted by disney themselves only because was aproved by fox. The movie was only released in 8 countries and without local dubbing in those countries to make sure the kids doesn’t want to go. Literally in my country was a complete disaster, to put an example with another movie bob’s burger here did an 0,1% of what lightyear did here. All because of premiering a movie with potential children’s audience only in english with subtitles
Tbh, The Bob’s Burgers Movie being bought by Disney as part of Fox was always going to hurt it, not help it. Disney will only campaign for their own (i.e., Turning Red, Lightyear, Strange World).
I’ve said it before in Best Original Song (95th Oscars) forums and I’ll say it again: There’s more substance and lyrical playfulness in this 2.5-minute clip than in all the appearances of “Nobody Like U”‘s barely-more-than-a-chorus (as played in the film) in Turning Red.

The Sea Beast is underwhelming AF. No real genius or mind-blowing moment whatsoever. Just a steady sea adventure with a few dazzling scenes, no more, no less, with some laughable political maneuvers bunched in towards the end, and the Netflix label doesn’t help it.
On that subject, as a severe non-fan of streaming, Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood practically screams “This should’ve been on the big screen” at me with every viewing, whereas The Sea Beast perfectly belongs on streaming. Implicit “this is TV movie/special-quality” vibes, which isn’t inherently bad.
Heck, I’m not the biggest fan of Turning Red, but I side with everyone who laments its theatrical run being taken away from it. (Spider-Man: No Way Home had just happened; pandemic excuses were pathetic even then.) Gun to my head, Turning Red deserves a BAF 2022 slot more than The Sea Beast, and I’d go so far as to nominate Minions: The Rise of Gru over both of them.
To conclude that The Sea Beast deserves a BAF 2022 slot over Inu-oh, Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood, or The Bad Guys is baffling at this point (sight unseen of GDT’s Pinocchio).

Hmmm… The Sea Beast is pretty unremarkable, but it probably has a better shot than My Father’s Dragon, which is basically a Nick Jr. movie.
Pinocchio is obviously Netflix’s priority. After that, I imagine it’s Wendell & Wild, which they’re probably banking on getting in out of industry respect for Selick & Peele. If Netflix gets three in, I’m rooting for Linklater’s Apollo 10½.
However, it’s probably more likely that something from Dreamworks gets in before Netflix gets multiple nominees in the lineup. The Puss in Boots sequel is getting surprisingly high praise from audiences and critics, and The Bad Guys is one of the most popular animated films of the year. GKIDS better realize that they’d need to CUT THROUGH Disney and Netflix juggling their 3+ 2022 offerings to get Inu-oh into BAF 2022 categories.
