Yeah. So maybe the first one. It’s just included in the soundtrack and not eligible. But I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
The Weeknd has stopped submit his stuff to the Grammys, maybe he decided to do the same with the other awards, not sure.
The oscars are way more transparent than the grammys in terms of voting. Is it confirmed that The Weeknd is releasing music for the film? Because I thought that “Song Chord” was the original main song for the film. Perhaps, it’s an album “inspired by the film” or he’s just promoting the movie.
When in doubt just streaming this masterpiece to get clear ideas and skin.

It looks like the Avatar song from The Weeknd is a collaboration with his frequent partners Swedish House Mafia (the three members Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell are teasing the release on Instagram.)

Buzz is never bad, specially organic like this one, but I doubt it’s very effective here. Let’s remember Rihanna also has Super Bowl right during voting and Taylor is promoting a smash hit album. So popularity and buzz per se might not be what influences the race.
It’s definitely not gonna hurt Gaga having a viral song smashing on Spotify, but we’re still talking about old people for the majority, especially when it comes to members of the Academy, majority are old white men, majority of them are not even aware of what is popular-trendy on the charts, that is why it has never made sense using the charts argument in this category, unless there is a very big undeniable song that is everywhere like ‘Shallow’, ‘Let It Go’ or ‘My heart will go On’.
Maybe it can help Gaga with the grammys in the visual song category since the members there are more sensitive to charts and popularity. ‘We don’t talk about Bruno’ is definitely the favourite since it’s the more popular song but it’s also old news, members there might actually go with something that is in awards contention currently, we’ll see.
